Tutorial Tuesday- “Love Blooms” layout with Kylie. Video included.

February 20, 2018

The lovely colour palette and paper prints of Miss Betty had me totally swooning this month. A truly lovely collection! Today I will share how I created my layout featuring lots of paper layers and some die cut flowers. I’ve prepared a process video for you all but before we begin though, let me show you my completed work-

There were so many pretty papers to choose from with the choice of floral, wood grain and fabric print just to name a few.It made my background paper choice hard to decide on!

To begin my layout I cut some length from my backing paper THREAD (reversed). This is probably the only element of my layout that I used precise measurements. I began by cutting 1″ (2.5cm) from top and bottom of my page.Keep both strips, and proceed to cut another 1cm (10mm) from both top and bottom again. Both these smaller strips can be discarded.

Next I cut two 2″ (5cm) strips from ‘SEWN’ .

From here it was a matter of reconstructing my backing paper. I had distressed some edges a little to give texture before doing so.

As you will see in my video I have incorporated three different papers through the middle of my layout. I did not use specific measurements for these and preferred to go by cutting by eye and what fitted best. Once I had backed my photo and laid everything in place I lightly marked everything with pencil so I could get it back in place after using some stamps in the background. This can be a really helpful tip for work where you include mixed media of some form.

Here is a look at my full process video.I hope you enjoy.

I was super happy with the layered element my paper flowers added to my layout, and the wooden flourish button were perfect as a cute centre. The extra leaves I punched also give a nice extra texture too.

A close up of the stamps I used in my background. I think these will become a favourite as I just love the design of them.

I hope you have enjoyed my project today and it inspires you in your own scrapbooking. Don’t forget to join the Kaisercraft Facebook group HERE to share your work and find lots more inspiration.

Until next time,

“Moment Captured” Scrapbook Layout by Donna Espiritu

January 23, 2018

Hello, everyone! It’s Donna here sharing a scrapbook layout I created using the Documented collection

I also incorporated a few Wooden Flourish pieces from different packs to embellish my scrapbooking project today

Here is my finished layout

I splattered a water-diluted white acrylic paint, some brown mists and watercolor to create the background

I first splattered the white acrylic paint followed by the brown watercolor. I let it sit for a few minutes before splattering the brown mist. I repeated this several times until I achieved the look I wanted

I preferred to leave the wooden flourishes bare/as is. I just added some pearls in the center.

The title is several layers of file I cut using an electronic cutting machine. A fine-tipped glue applicator is great to help for easy application of adhesive to small/tiny or intricate details.

To finish off the look, I scattered a mix of rhinestones and pearls all over the layout

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you liked my project using the Documented collection.

Happy crafting, xoDonnaxo

Barbers Shoppe Layouts Terhi Koskinen Tuesday Tutorials Tutorials Videos

‘Unique’ scrapbook layout and Tutorial by Terhi Koskinen

August 9, 2016

Hello Kaisercraft fans, Terhi Koskinen here for the first time ever! I’m sharing a layout made with new gorgeous collection ‘ Barbers Shoppe’ and recorded a process video featuring some easy ways to use Kaisercraft Ink Pads.

Kaisercraft Products: CD650 White Cardstock | GC106  Bronze Glitter Cardstock | P2134 Razor Paper | P2137 Comb Paper | P2140 Shave Paper | P2133 Groomed | CT861 Collectables | PS460 Artifacts – Gloss | IT914 Grunge Template | IP725 Petal Pink Ink Pad | IP726 Island Ink Pad | IP719 Black Ink Pad | CS785 Typewriter Font Clear Stamp | RS413 Coral Sparklets | RB884 After Five – Words Rub Ons | T302 Foam Dots | T321 Acid-Free Craft Glue

I’m always curious to try new things and see new ways to use products, that’s why I challenged myself to use the Typewriter Font Clear Stamps (CS785) on the background. I wrote a word ‘unique’ with the stamps to acrylic block and then stamped the word all over the background. In addition to traditional stamping, the Kaisercraft Ink Pads were used on the background in another way too. I used make up sponge to add the color through a stencil.

Another nice detail in this layout is the use of Bronze Glitter Cradstock (GC106). Took some old frame dies and add some bling to the layout by adding the frames here and there.

As usual, I got my inspiration from the picture. Here’s me and my furry friend having a special moment. Thought the ‘Barbers Shoppe’ collection goes perfectly with a photo like that, all colors are matching perfectly and I found lots of delicious details to add from the Collectables pack (CT861).

All the steps of how I created the layout can be found from the video below. Enjoy and be inspired!

Thank you for coming by!

Terhi xx

Tuesday Tutorial with Leonie Neal-Dawson

May 17, 2016

Hello and welcome to the Kaisercraft blog, Leonie Neal-Dawson here with you today.  We’re into the third week of May now and have had some gorgeous inspiration for Mother’s Day and Wedding projects and this week is all about  the Mermaid Tails collection.  Being a Tuesday I have a tutorial to share with you using this lovely collection and the Uppercase Designer Template.

“Wild & Free”

For my tutorial I used the Uppercase Designer Template to create a large title on my page using some gorgeous Kaisercraft Glitter Cardstock.  Because the alpha letters are quite large I used them as a design element on the page creating this linear style layout.

On the reverse of the glitter cardstock, trace out the letters you require.  Don’t forget to flip the template over so you’re tracing the letters backwards

Next up is to fussy cut the words out.  I only had the two word title so it really didn’t take very long at all.  I know electronic cutting machines are awesome but unless you have room to leave it out I tend to resort to things like this rather than lugging it out from the cupboard and setting it up.

My title “Wild & Free” actually came from a quote on the boarder strip of the Sea Turtle (P2082) paper.  I chose a couple of words I wanted to stand out and used them as the title.

You can see the whole quote in this picture where I’m positioning my photo and title to determine the basic design of my page.

To add to my linear design I cut a strip of the ‘Ripples’ (P2087) paper and stitched it to the ‘Coral Reef’ (P2080) paper with my sewing machine.

Next up I framed my photo on this lovely floral paper from the 6 1/2″ paper pad cutting it down to size and overlapping it so that it was the right size to matt my 6×4″ photo on top.

Next up I used items from the collectables pack to create a cluster to the right of the photo and added some glitter thread.  This helped to tie in the glitter from the cardstock title.

And that’s about it page done. I used a fine tip applicator glue to adhere the title.  Here are some more closeups pictures for you.

So next up I have another page created with the Mermaid Tails collection.

“Hello Mr Fishy”

I just loved this ‘Deep Sea’ (P2086) paper in the collection and really wanted to use it as the base for a layout without covering up too much of that pretty actor surrounded by flowers.  I did sponge a little gesso over the design just so that the photo and papers layered under it didn’t blend in with the background but stood out a little.

I was so happy with how this wooden flourish frame turned out after I had decorated it, so I thought I would show another quick little tutorial on how I coloured it.

I sponged Kaiser ink directly onto the frame.  The lighter colour ‘Island’ (IP726) went on first and I covered the whole frame with it.  Then I added the darker colour ‘Lagoon’ (IP727) to half of the frame giving a two toned ombre appearance.

Lastly I painted the frame with glitter glue for a little sparkle.

Doesn’t it look lovely?

Last up today I have two pages to share with the Always & Forever Collection.  I hadn’t previously scrapped too many of my wedding photo’s but this month I’ve added four pages to my wedding album using this collection and plenty of Glitter Cardstock!

Kaisercraft Layouts NEW Product Papercraft Tuesday Tips Tuesday Tutorials Tutorials

Tutorial Tuesday Plus More with Amanda Baldwin

April 19, 2016

Hi Kaisercrafters!

Welcome back for another super fun Tutorial Tuesday!

Amanda here, & today I have a fabulous mixed media layout that features 4 different techniques to try with your Kaisermists! It is tons of fun, so let’s get straight into it ;)

Here’s my layout created with the all NEW Sea Breeze collection….

I know, how awesome is this?!! I immediately fell in love with the Sea Breeze collection and it’s Specialty Gloss paper just beckoned for mixed media goodness! So many awesome tips and techniques here – enjoy!

Our first technique is ‘bagging’. To create a really cool effect, with a little more control than spraying your Kaisermist, simply apply with a soft plastic bag. (I use freezer bags but any soft plastic will work).

To apply, simply sponge the Kaisermisted bag in the areas where you want the colour…..

Really cool, huh? For this background, I ‘bagged’ Kaisermist Apple, & Turquoise.

Our second technique is to flick the Kaisermist nozzle for a more random, but small, splatter look. I used Charcoal Kaisermist for this effect.

Didn’t our first two techniques work well to create a fun, background effect? They also really highlight the embossed glossy pattern in the Specialty paper – which creates another layer of texture too!

While that background dries, grab some 400gsm artist paper and get inky!

You’ll need to use a permanent/waterproof black ink & the stunning new background stamp, Majestic Butterfly. I fill my paper with this stamp, so that I have a few options to get creative with.

Next, I select a few of my Kaisermist colours and use them as an alternative to watercolour paint…

(Yes, I paint outside the lines and messy! I don’t believe in time wasting & these butterflies are going to be fussy cut. So no need to be careful ;) )

Once my Kaisermist is dry, I use a waterproof, fine point, black pen to ‘touch up’ any of my stamping.

And now, grab your scissors and get fussy cutting! :)

Our fourth technique for fun ways to use your Kaisermists is to use them to hand colour our favourite Wooden Shapes. I sprayed my hearts with Kaisermist: Charcoal.

Tip: If the wood veneers are a little porous, allow to dry and then spray a second coat of colour over them.

Now, to get our layout complete, you’ll need to die cut the doilies in black cardstock, as shown below…

And now it’s time to assemble!

Attach some Sea Breeze Collectables, as well as staple some craft wire to the layout as shown…..

Next add a couple more of the Collectables, then add the larger doily.

Attach your photograph to the smaller doily then adhere to layout. Also attach the large, hand painted Majestic Butterfly in the centre of the large doily. Add a few paper & mini paper blooms in Grape.

Finally, add your title and those gorgeous Kaisermisted wooden hearts.

Super easy, tons of fun and WOW!!!

Hope you enjoyed learning a few different ways to use your Kaisermists!

As always, the NEW collections for this month were so incredible that I just had to create a few extra layouts with them!

Here’s more mixed media layouts with the super cool Sea Breeze collection…

Isn’t this cool?! I used the ‘bagging’ & nozzle ‘splatter’ techniques on this layout too!

I also used modeling paste & the Designer Template: Cobblestone to add more texture to the background. Here’s a closer look….

Love the ‘grungy’ feel that the cobblestones create, & how cool are the epoxy star stickers?! Perfect for boy pages!

Kaisercraft Products: CD102 | Licorice, P2018 | Waterfall, P2020 | Sea, SS310 | Sticker Sheet, CT853 | Collectables, DD552 | Decorative Die-Nesting Stitched Squares, IT901 | Designer Template-Cobblestone, KM101 | Charcoal, KM105 | Turquoise, KM111 | White, ST911 | Monochrome. Other: Flair, Modeling Paste, Staples, & Tag.

The next layout I am sharing features the same patterned paper & turquoise Kaisermist – but what a differrent look……..

“LOVE life”

So pretty! And those gorgeous painted stripes? Well, another cool way to use your Kaisermist is to add a few drops to gesso & mix! I love the softness of the colour in this one. The gold pops add a fun element, & keep an eye out for more glitter cardstock coming soon ;)

Here’s a closer look……

Love it! Such a very different look created with the same pattern paper.

I could have kept creating with Sea Breeze all month long…..but there are two stunning collections this month, & the second one is Cottage Rose. It is prettiness overload!

Here’s my mixed media take on this very elegant & feminine collection….

I adore this! So elegant and pretty! And this time, I mixed  few drops of Kaisermist: Candy into my modeling paste and applied with a palette knife and the Lace Template. Just beautiful!

And yes, there’s that stunning Majestic Butterfly Stamp again too – I think it’s my new favourite!

Kaisercraft Products: CD101 | Coconut, P2074 | Garden, PP995 | Paper Pad, CT854 | Collectables, F641 | Dusty Pink, SB786| Rose, CS288 | Clear Stamp-Background Majestic Butterfly, IP719 | Black, DD500 | DD-Script Words, T629 | 12 x 12 Template-Lace, KM115 | Candy.

And now I am officially Mixed Media-ed out! Time for a couple classic pages to finish with today….

“Remember This Moment”

How sweet! And did I mention that Decorative Frame Embossing Folder?!! It’s stunning – take a close look….

Lots of beautiful layers here!

Kaisercraft Products: P2071 | Welcome, CT854 | Collectables, SS311 | Sticker Sheet, EF239 | Embossing Folder-Decorative Frame, F644 | Coconut, F627 | Coconut. Other: Vellum.
