Tutorial Tuesday with Collette

March 1, 2016

Welcome to tutorial Tuesday and …… March!!

As always Kaisercraft have some awesome new collections, beyond the page items, dies and embossing folders…..I had such fun playing.

I have a real mixed bag for you this month, a bit of everything. As it is Tutorial Tuesday I have made a video that shows you how to make a special ‘Photo Never Ending Card’. I could not resist the little albums and shelf and indulged my free time in the gorgeous ‘Story Book Collection’. Then there is the bright and funky Finders Keepers collection too…..simply not enough time!

I hope you have as much fun with the March releases as I have.

Never Ending Photo Card

It’s my sons birthday soon and I wanted to make him a ‘special’ card – one that could incorporate photos and that would be interactive. I chose the ‘Never Ending Card’ which I re-sized . It is such a great card! You could put so many more photos on it and turn it into a fun unconventional mini album. Think Christmas… overseas, send them a Never Ending Card with lots of your family pics!

Here is the front of the card…

This is the first turn….(isn’t he adorable!).

This is the second turn…..

and the third and final turn, the next turn takes you back to the beginning!

Such clever fun!

I hope you are inspired to make one, to help I have made a special u-tube video….just for you to make it real easy!

Mini Albums & Album Bookshelf

Oh my golly gumdrops….you have to see this sweet little bookshelf to fall in love with it!

I decided to make one for each of my boys! We have no family in Australia, some live in the UK and Ireland, some have passed. I decided to dedicate one little book for each family member, going back as far as I can. This little shelf can fit quite a few albums and I have really enjoyed compiling information on our extended family!

Other sweet ideas are to have a mini album for each of the countries you have visited, how nice it would be to do a bit of armchair traveling when you are feeling low; or an album for each month of you babies life, I think the set would cover 2 years!

I love the wood effect paper in this collection ( P2065 Library Card), it is so rich and authentic!

The mini albums measure a sweet 3″ wide x 4″ tall. Each of my albums has a different saying like the above which I cut from P2068 Bookplates.

Here are pics of the inside of one of the books.

‘Live in the Moment’ Layout

This is a wonderful pic of my uncle. He had just come back from work, he was acting in a 1920’s movie. I asked him to show me what he did, he posed and I shot! When I started this layout, I had so many scraps of  the ‘Story Book’ collection around me from other projects that I decided to use them. I cut very little, just picked and placed until I was happy!

‘Bookplate Easel Card’

This really is an elegant card, and the photo does not do justice to the majestic foil embossed Book Covers Paper (PS446).

Ten Minute Cards

Ten minute cards are easy with Kaisercraft, grab a card blank, a paper pad and matching collectables and away you go!  Play, shuffle paper and collectables around on your card blank until you are happy –  you will be surprised how easy it can be!

Magestic Butterfly Card

The new Majestic Butterfly Background stamp is fabulous! Here I gold embossed it and coloured it with Copic Markers, (colouring it with the new gel pens from Kaisercraft would look good also). I then masked the butterfly and used the new script background stamp (CS257) to create a pale yellow background. The stunning fancy edge border was made using Kaisercrafts new Lace Border Die (DD755). So many new beautiful toys to play with!

Storage Tip

I am in the process of sorting all my craft supplies and have just moved onto my Decorative Dies….I do have 1 or 2!!

I think I have found the perfect system for me, and wanted to share. I have not ‘prettied’ it up, for me it is purely practical.

I have taken a 6″ x 8″ Captured Memories D ring album (CM901). They are nice and strong and have a four ring support spine inside. I have a mixture of album pockets (there are four different configurations available) and use them to suit my die shape. Once I have sorted and grouped them, I will make some dividers using DD309 Decorative Dies Tabs and Brackets, which are just perfect for this.

What do you think?

I love how I can neatly keep my Stamp and Die Sets together!

Well that’s my post for March. I really hope it inspires and motivates you to play and maybe organise!

The bookshelf and mini albums are just brilliant. I wish everyone had the opportunity to see them as photos don’t do them justice as is the case with much of your work. We are so lucky to have you here and to have the opportunity to come to your classes.
