Tuesday Tip – Mixing It Up!

December 4, 2012

Hi Everyone, Trudi here today with the Tuesday Tip.  Today, we are going to have some more fun altering a canvas with one of the new Kaisercraft masks, some mediums and lots of gorgeous colour.

Here is the canvas that I have altered:

‘Live’ by Trudi Harrison

You will require the following Kaisercraft Products:

6 x 6 Template – Flower, CT739 Collectables Secret Admirer – Icons, PS173 Acetate Sheet Secret Garden, Paper Blooms – F662 Coral, F663 Hot Pink, F631 Sea Breeze, Mini Paper Blooms – F648 Sea Breeze, F631 Sunset, Rub Ons – RB940 Bonjour, RB120 Live Rub On Words, Clear Texture Stamp CS838 Numbers, Large Lowercase Chipboard Alpha

Other Materials:

Canvas, Gesso, Texture Paste, Glimmer Mist – Turquoise Blue, Heidi Swapp Colour Shine – Mint Green, Mustard, Georgia Pink, Black Ink

Creating the background:
Position the flower template and apply the texture paste.  A palette knife, stiff piece of cardboard or an old credit card will do the job nicely.

Remove the template and it will look something like this.

Repeat the process and allow to dry.

Add another two flowers with the template, this time overlapping the images. Allow to dry.  Mist heavily with the Mint Green Colour Shine Spritz and then allow to dry.

Apply some Gesso randomly over the top of some of the misting.

It can be applied quite thick and you can try stippling some of the applied Gesso to add texture.  I applied the Gesso with cardboard and then pushed down and lifted off to create the effect.  Allow this to dry.

Add some Colour Shine Georgia Pink spritz over the top.  Allow it to run in some areas.

When dry, adhere some large chipboard alphabet letters.

Apply Gesso over the top and allow to dry.

Randomly stamp with a Kaisercraft Texture Stamp and black ink.

Mist heavily over the letters with Turquoise Blue Glimmer Mist.  Add some light misting with the Turquoise Blue over some of the background.

Add more colour with the Colour Shine Spritz.  I added more Georgian Pink and introduced Mustard.

And a touch more Turquoise Blue to finish it off.

**Tip – Allow each colour application to dry before adding another colour**

Cut the elements from the Secret Garden Acetate Sheet and arrange over the top.  Adhere  in place when you are happy with the placement.

Add a few of the Secret Admirer Collectables.

A few pretty paper blooms and mini paper blooms.

Some Rub ons…

And you are done!

Happy Creating!
