Tuesday Tip: Mini Album Binding
Hello Kaisercrafties, another Tuesday is upon is which means another Tuesday Tip! I don’t know about you, but I love these posts to be able to learn new ideas and tricks! I hope you enjoy today’s post by Toni crane from our Contributing design team on Album Binding.
Toni Says:
“When I created my Christmas Planner in September using the December 25th range I was asked how I did the binding. It’s actually quite easy and I thought I would share it with you today.
This is a great way to create your own mini albums, or spines for one already done (which is what I did with the Christmas Planner)
For this you need only a sheet of chipboard and masking tape. You will need to cut three pieces of chipboard – one for the spine (cut this to the width that your spine needs to be) and 2 for the covers.”

Lay the spine piece down and run a piece of masking tape down one long edge, with an overhang of masking tape.

To get the gap between the spine piece and the cover, use a scrap piece of chipboard and using the edge, lie this along the spine piece and masking tape, then place your cover, matching top and bottom edges.

Remove the scrap piece of chipboard and do the same with the other side of the spine.

Then cover the inside of the spine and joins with more masking tape. Fold the covers in and you will find you have a perfect binding. The masking tape actually provides strength and flexibility and allows the album to easily open and close.
All you have to do now is cover your album cover with your favourite Kaisercraft Paper and add the pages to the inside. If you are using an album with holes already punched in the pages, you can punch holes in the spine, and thread ribbon through the page holes, through the spine and tie them off like I did with the Christmas Planner.

The possibilities for this technique really are endless. Have fun and I would love to see your albums made with this technique.

I love this tip and the album is beautiful! Kaisercraft rocks the house for me!!!
Thank you…but I got lost when you mentioned punching holes and adding ribbon…not clear from the photo of the finished album, although I see some ribbon, where the holes are. I guess I cannot figure out how the ‘binding’ is attached or how the pages are attached.
Candy, I punch 2 holes across the horizontal in the spine of the book, thread the ribbon through one hole, then through the pages (punched holes), then back through the other hole and then tie the ribbon into a bow. Depending on the height of the book it will be 2 or 3 rows of holes to hold the pages.
If there’s a lot of pages, I will divide them into 2 or 3 lots and punch more holes in the spine and tie them seperately.
Hope this helps. If not let me know and I can email you pics of exactly how I tie them.

Still a little confusing. Step by step pics would be good …. or maybe I need to try it step by step myself!
