Altered Canvas Donna Espiritu Mixed Media Tutorials

“Beautiful” Canvas by Donna Espiritu

November 16, 2017

Hello everyone! It’s Donna here sharing my latest project using the Romantique Collection.

“Beautiful” Canvas

I have this square canvas in my stash for quite some time now. So, I decided to alter it and create a mixed media canvas for my project today. Though it is smaller than the usual 12×12 paper I always use for scrapbooking, I still enjoyed the creative process and I love how it turned out.

I used a couple of Kaisercraft Inkpads, modeling paste and Kaisercraft templates to create a textured background

Then, I layered lots of fussy cut images and ephemera die cuts.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the word “beautiful”. It is 7 layers and I adhered each on top of each other to create a thick and sturdy title.

Flowers and rhinestones completed the whole project.

Here is a process video I prepared for you. Enjoy watching!

Live with a full heart ~ Rose Avenue Layout Photo Tutorial by Donna Espiritu

October 10, 2017

Hello!  Donna here sharing a scrapbook layout I created using the Rose Avenue collection.

I think this is my favorite from the new collections so far. Primarily because of the florals and pastel colors! I love this combination and there’s a ton of patterns to fussy cut as well. Heaven!

I usually print 2 sizes of photos and since I didn’t want one to go to waste or left unused, I decided to place the photos side by side as I did here with my page. I used a doily to add visual interest.

I did a bit of mixed media to my background first and added some colors using metallique acrylic paints and ink pads.

I mixed different shades of pink and turquoise to achieve the background

I love how the strips of paper looked like after! I used foam tapes to lift the scalloped edges instead of leaving it flat. Then I went into town embellishing the whole page. I love this particular quote (which is in the product strip! So don’t throw those away, you can still use them like I did here!) and I think it matched the mood and angle of my daughter’s photo like she’s facing or looking towards something bright.

Rose Avenue is such a beautiful collection!

Here is a short tutorial I prepared for you.

Letters To Santa Mabel Sim NEW Product Tutorials

Santa Claus Says Merry Christmas! by Mabel Sim

September 26, 2017

Hi everyone!

I’m Mabel and I’m here to share with you a tutorial with the new Letters to Santa Collection to create a simple Christmas themed frame that is so apt for your Christmas display.

I first start with a 8×8 inches shadow box which I prepped it with an even coat of white gesso. You can also use any white acrylic paint/white opaque paint to replace gesso if you do not own one.

In the meantime, while waiting for the gesso to dry, cut down P2388 Christmas Poinsettia as a base.

I had also fussy cut out my centrepiece for today with P2395 Be Merry. I trimmed out the circle sentiment and mount it on foam tapes to give it some dimension.

Layering is always the key to make your project looks sophisticated. It is actually a very simple technique of arranging your pieces together on different heights. For this time round, I am making use of the rim of the shadowbox to show different layers. I had fussy cut out Mr. Santa from P2389 Dear Santa and stuck it to the bottom corner of my frame.

To balance out the opposite end, I am also adhering pieces from the CT890 Collectables as well as from P2393 Holly & Berries, followed by Christmas streamers from SS347 Sticker Sheet.

Adding pulled cheese cloth will also add some additional interest to the project.

Simply cut down the cheese cloth to tiny bits and tug it gently for the strings to break apart from its usual placement, adhere them to the bottom of your flowers.

Here’s the final look and some close up pictures. :)

Others: Shadow Box, White Gesso, Cheese Cloth

That’s all for my tutorial. Simple ain’t it?

Donna Espiritu Layouts Letters To Santa

“Believe” layout by Donna Espiritu

September 14, 2017

Hello!

Donna here to share a scrapbook layout I created using the Letters To Santa collection.

I love the traditional colors red and green in this collection and my niece’s photo is perfect so I used that here.

Let me show how I created this layout, it’s just a few simple steps actually. The part that took time was fussy cutting the images from one of the papers.

First, use the Be Merry paper as the base for the layout. Cut the special die cut paper like so and adhere to the right and left corners as seen in the image. Mat the photo with one of the cards from the Perforated Wishlist paper and add some messy white threads underneath.

Embellish with the fussy cut images from the Christmas Poinsettia paper and pieces from the Letters To Santa Collectables. Use foam tapes to some of the pieces to add dimension. Using the Decorative Die Lantern Scene and Glitter Cardstock in Champagne, cut some leaves and a candle.

Using a brush, splatter white watercolors all over the layout (use a piece of scrap paper or plastic to cover the photo from unwanted splatters). And the layout is done!

Here are some detailed shots of the finished layout

I hope you liked my project today!
