Baby mini-album tutorial by Julia Akinina + Video

November 15, 2016

Hello, dear friends!

Today Julia is here and I’m happy to share with you my video-tutorial. I love to create quick and easy projects, so I think this Baby album is a good idea for quick peesent. It didn’t takes e a lot of time to create it, and I looove the result! It’s lovely cute album with many pockets and lots of details. I hope you’ll be inspired by this baby girl album and my video helps you to create something beautiful!

The dimensions of the album are 12cm x 12 cm for the inner pages, and 12,5cm x 12,5cm for the cover. I used paper only from the 6×6 Paper Pad, so I have all my 12×12 sheets for the other projects. To decorate the pages I used cards from the paper pad, word-stickers from the sticker sheet, collectables pack, and the flourish pack. To create the Title on the cover I glued 3 die cuts, so it became more dimentional.

That’s all, I hope you enjoyed it! If you have any questions considered the creative process feel free to ask it in the comment.

‘OOPS’ scrapbook layout by Terhi Koskinen

September 16, 2016

Hello Kaisercraft fans!

Terhi Koskinen here sharing my latest creation with brand new ‘Frosted’ collection, and showing you the coolest title ever.
K_SEP_OOPS (1)

Coolest and the most interesting title (at least in my opinion) can be made with a simple recipe: Paper, stencil, needle and thread. If you want to try out doing the same as I did, here’s a simple step-by-step tutorial for you:

  1. First draw the title through a stencil to the backside of the paper. Remember to keep your letter mirrored.
  2. Then by using a thin needle, make little holes to the edges of the letters.
  3. Last, add thread all way over, and cut the title out.

Making this was easy and I love the dimentional look of the finished letters!

K_SEP_OOPS (2)

As much as I love trying out new techniques like this easy hand sticthed title, I love capturing special moments. Actually, memorykeeping is what keeps me scrapbooking years after years. Our albums are much more than just happy birthdays and smiling with Santa Claus – in addition to first mentioned, I want our albums to look like our life. There are happy moments, there is everyday life, there is running to gorcery store to getting milk, and there is falling with ice skates when learning how to go forward. There is our life, in good and in bad.

K_SEP_OOPS (3)

This photograph was taken couple years ago, and I wish I could add the sound of laugh to it! Learning skating can be tricky, but also so much fun, especially when the younger one had heard about cool falling tips. She wanted to make sure she can really fall with good technique before skating quickly.

K_SEP_OOPS (7)

‘Frosted’ collection was the best choice for this winter layout, and I just love how the dark brown, whites, and different shades of blues are working together perfectly.

I hope you feel inspired!

Thank you for stopping by today!

Terhi xx

IMG_0560

Here I will show you quick step-by-step tutorial how to create the gift box for chocolate. I cut two pieces of paper  21.5cm x 12cm for the base and 13cm x 18cm for the future pocket.

IMG_0515

Then I scor my base on 10cm and 11,5cm.

IMG_0517

To create the pocket I score the paper on 1,5cm and 3 cm on the tree sides.

IMG_0518

Then I cut out the unnesessary pieces to create this figure.

IMG_0519

I use Kaisercraft dies to create small window inside the box.

IMG_0520

Finally I glued the pocket and here you can see the base of the box with the chocolate inside.

May Creations and Step by Step Layout Tutorial by Cathy Cafun

May 10, 2016

Hi everyone, Cathy here sharing my DT projects for the month.  Also this month it’s my turn to share a step by step tutorial and I have chosen to show you my creative process with a layout tutorial using the lovely ‘Mermaid Tails and the newly released ‘Underwater’ Stamp and Die Set as well as one of the new Decorative Word Dies.

“Young Wild and Free” Step by Step Layout Tutorial by Cathy Cafun

Tutorial MT LO

Kaisercraft Product:  Mermaid Tails – Paper – P2079 Dolphin x2, P2082 Sea Turtle, P2084 Sea Foam | SS313 12×12 Sticker Sheet | CT855 Collectables | CS263 Mermaid Tails Stamp Set | GC111 Glitter Cardstock – Frost | DD155 Decorative Die Words – Young Wild and Free | DD917 Decorative Die and Stamp Set – Underwater | IT904 Designer Template – Fading Dots | KM105 Kaisermist – Turquoise | RS402 Rhinestones – Island Lagoon | T331 Sanding Block | T303 Foam Tape | Other Product: DM-1MM2M02 Derivan Matisse Impasto Medium | embossing powder, superfine glitter

How gorgeous are the shades of teal and mauve in this collection… so pretty!! and the glitter cardstock is to die for and just happens to go beautifully with this underwater themed collection, by adding a touch of sparkle that you would see in the ocean waves shining on a beautiful Summer’s day.

MT Tut 1

To create this layout, start by roughly tearing diagonally down from the top left to ¾ down to the bottom right of the Sea Foam pp.  This section will be rotated so that the 12” length of the corner will be on the left hand side of the layout.  Fussy cut the bottom coral section of the Sea Foam pp and cut into 2 sections.  From the remaining piece cut a section measuring 12cm long x 7cm high and tear on a diagonal – refer to photograph.
MT Tut 2Using the torn sections as a guide, roughly tear two pieces from the Frost Glitter Cardstock to create a second layer. Diecut the Young Wild and Free Decorative Die title from the Glitter Cardstock.

MT Tut 3

There is a lovely new release ‘Underwater’ Stamp and Die Set which matches beautifully with the ‘Mermaid Tails’ Collection.  I have stamped the seaweed fronds and one of the tropical fish with Versamark on the teal green section of the ‘Dolphin’ pp and embossed with silver embossing powder.  I have also used the coral section from the Mermaid Tails Stamp Set which I stamped 3 times, then embossed in silver and fussy cut.  Cut the coral sections into pieces, refer to photograph.

Using the photograph as a guide, adhere the torn glitter sections under torn sections of the mauve corners.  Adhere 3 sides of the large and small torn corners to the mermaid side of the ‘Dolphin’ pp. leaving the torn side free, so that you can tuck in the fussy cut and stamped sections.  The ‘Dolphin’ pp will be turned upside down so that the mermaid is covered over and you only see the teal green section of the paper.  If you want to reuse the pretty mermaid section, use the corner to mark where to tear before adhering your corners.  If you are not saving, the large corner is adhered to the top left and the smaller corner to the bottom right.

MT Tut 4

Arrange the fussy cut coral sections, silver stamped sections and the mauve coral diecut from the matching Collectables under the torn edges.  When you are happy with positioning, adhere with tape.

MT Tut 5

Using the dots section from the Christmas Quarters Template, mask around the coral with Impasto Medium and whilst wet, sprinkle with glitter.  Shake off excess and dry with heat gun.

MT Tut 6

NEW_2_FourQuarters

MT Tut stencil

Splatter turquoise Kaisermist around the coral.  The fine splatters can be achieved by applying mist to an old toothbrush, and flicking the mist by drawing your finger over the brush.  Have a little practice first, to get an idea of how to direct the flicks where you would like them on your background.

Using the photo as a guide, adhere your photo, seaweed and fish stamped diecuts, and the strip from the bottom of the ‘Sea Turtle’ pp with foam tape and the Glitter diecut title with glue.

MT Tutorial ed

Presand the edges of the seahorse diecut collectable and the seashell sticker border to make them pop.  Tuck in seahorse and seashell collectables and adhere with foam tape.  Adhere the seashell sticker border under the phrase strip and the Live Love Dream Sticker to the side of the seaweed with foam tape.  Randomly adhere the island lagoon rhinestones around the coral borders.  I decided to add the little  stamped and embossed diecut tropical fish created with the Underwater Stamp and Die set to the bottom right corner and stamped some of the bubbles coming out of his mouth… too cute!!

MT Tut cl2

Tutorial MT LO

To finish off I have lightly sanded around the edges of my layout with the Sanding Block to create a grungy white border.

T331

Hope you enjoyed my tutorial and that perhaps it has inspired you to create your own version of this layout :)

I have created a Birthday and Thank You card with the Mermaid Tails Collection and again teamed it with the new Glitter Cardstock for a bit of added sparkle and shine.  This glitter cardstock diecuts beautifully and the best bit is no messy glitter to clean up!!

The second release for this month is the gorgeous ‘Always and Forever’ rustic and romantic themed Collection which perfectly captures the true meaning of everlasting love.

“You Make My Heart Smile” Layout by Cathy Cafun

AF Layout

You don’t necessarily need to create a romantic layout with this collection.  As you can see, I decided to create a layout showing how much my daughter means to me, by using an overall heart theme, teamed with gorgeous roses and doilies diecut Collectables and Stickers.  I fell in love the the beautiful foil paper from the 6.5” matching Paper Pad and used this with the Heart Frame Embossing Folder to create the main heart embellishment.  I also used the embossing folder to add some texture to the heart diecuts from the Collectables, which I lightly sanded to create a distressed shabby look.  The foil paper was also used with the Vintage Keys Decorative Die.

AF LO cl1 - Copy

Keeping in theme with the hearts I masked my background with metallic champagne metallic paste and the new ‘Love’ Designer Template.  Once dry I applied mist by spraying onto a piece of acetate then applying to my background paper to create a mottled shabby effect, and finished off by randomly stamping with the PS I love you stamp from the matching stamp set.

“I Love you” Diamond Fold Card by Cathy Cafun

AF Folded Card front

You may have noticed that I have been playing around with various folded box cards this month and I was having so much fun, that I decided to make another.  This one has an origami feel to it and opens up to reveal a greeting and is secured with a belly band.  I found this tutorial created by Beate Johns at Splitcoast Stampers http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/diamondfoldcard/.

AF Folded Card open

All you need is the 6.5 inch paper pad and a bit of cardstock to create the simple version of this card.  I chose to use the collectables to embellish the belly band, but you could easily fussy cut your own embellishments from the paper pad.  The front panels of the card were embossed with the pretty Butterfly Flourish embossing folder, then lightly sanded to make the embossed detail pop.

I received one of the new Standing Word beyond the page pieces in my kit this month. I have covered this in paper from the Always and Forever Collection and left it fairly clean and simple, but it could be jazzed up to create a gorgeous centre piece for a wedding.

January Creations and Step by Step Tutorial with Cathy Cafun

January 12, 2016

Hi Everyone,

Today I am sharing my projects created with the new release “True Love” and “#Me” Collections as well as a Step by Step Tutorial on a misting technique with glad wrap, using some of the gorgeous new release Kaisermist colours.

12374783_10153123433940356_5571513754217989012_oFirst up I have my creations using the beautiful “True Love” Collection, which has a romantic theme with soft and pretty watercolour florals, lacey hearts and a lovely array of quotes for that someone special in your life.  I have also used this collection for my step by step misting tutorial.

Cling Wrap Mist Tutorial

“Be Happy Be Bright Be You”

TL Tut LO

For my tutorial I thought I would share a simple but very effective technique using some of the newly released Kaisermists and glad wrap.  All you need to create your gorgeous background, are a few mists, in complementary colours, a piece of cardstock/pp, gesso, and glad wrap.  I have used the new Candy and White Kaisermists, along with the Red, Peach and Pink from the previous colour release.

TL Tut 2a

To start, coat your background cardstock/pp with gesso.  The gesso stops the mist from absorbing straight into the paper.  I have used white cardstock, so that the marbling effect of the misting technique really pops.  If you are going to use patterned paper, it looks better if you choose a pale coloured pp with a very subtle pattern to it. I find the heavier weight of cardstock works better.

TL Tut 1

Dry off thoroughly with a heat gun, then mist generously with your lightest colour first, through to your darkest colour.

TL Tut 3

Tear a piece of glad wrap about 45cm long, then apply over your misted area, crumpling the glad wrap as you go.  This will need to dry overnight or a couple of hours outside in the sunlight.

TL Tut 4

Once dry, just peel away the glad wrap and you have a gorgeous marble-toned background!!

TL Tut 6

Cut off the diagonal strip from the reverse side of the “My Baby” pp and tear diagonally down to form a large corner piece, then cut and tear another smaller corner piece.  Tear strips from the “My Precious” pp to fit under the corner pieces and adhere.  Tear lengths of mint glitter tape and affix to corners, then using the hessian texture stamp and lagoon ink pad, stamp randomly around the edges.   Fussy cut the flowers and leaves from the reverse side of “My Soulmate” pp.

TL Tut 7

Affix the large torn corner section to the right-hand side of your background and the smaller torn corner to the bottom left side of your background.

TL Tut 9

Diecut a section from the Butterfly Cardfront Decorative Die from the green “My Baby” pp so that you have 3 butterflies.  Coat with PVA glue and sprinkle with glitter.  Diecut the Be Happy Decorative Die from the peach side of the “My Love” pp.

TL Tut 8

Adhere your photo, then arrange and adhere the fussy cut pieces, butterflies, rhinestone flourishes around the left-hand side of your photo.  Top your butterflies with fern sparklets and randomly adhere sequins and beads around your flower cluster.  Finish off by adding the heart collectables with sticker phrases on the bottom right of your photo and adhering your  Be Happy diecut title.

TL Tut LO

Other Product: DM-1MM2M10 Derivan Gesso, cling wrap, extra fine glitter, sequin bead mix

Hope you enjoyed my tutorial.  There are endless colour variations you can try with this technique to match your pp’s and this would make a fabulous background for cards as well.

“So Many Beautiful Moments”

This layout was created using the gorgeous Specialty Diecut Paper and Collectables.

TL SMBM LO

The background was created by diecutting the Lattice C6 Decorative Die to use as a mask, with extra light modelling paste.  Once dry, I outlined with a black fineliner pen, then randomly flicked with Apple and Lime Kaisermist over the masked area.
