Beyond the Page Card Making Kaisercraft Layouts Papercraft

Wonderful Wednesday with Alison Bevis

August 12, 2015

Hello everyone!

I cannot choose which collection is my favourite this month, can you?

But I really do love CHRISTMAS..

and we are on the countdown to December!! So we’ll begin with..

HOLY NIGHT

“JOY” Banner by Alison Bevis

I started by creating a Home Decor ‘Banner’ using all the pretty white and gold patterns from the collection. The banner is a deleted Kaisercraft Wood Product (unfortunately!) but there is a new Pennant shape which would look lovely too – or you could cut chipboard into a banner shape? You could easily add more banners to make a longer word – Peace, Noel or go all out to do Merry Christmas!!

The letter ‘O’ is created by punching a few circles, folding them in half and then adhering one half to the next circle, then that half to another circle and so on, so you end up with a 3 dimensional shape – you can do this with any shape that can be folded in half? You can even add a shape to a card front!

“Christmas Cards” by Alison Bevis

It is NEVER too early to start making cards for your family and friends, never! I think if you added a different greeting to the card on the right it could easily be given as a Happy Birthday or Thank you card – the roses and little yellow flowers are not traditionally ‘Christmas’ – how versatile!!

holy card

I always use the leftover paper to line the envelope… that way it always matches and there is no waste!

Gold always adds a touch of elegance, so

A Touch of Gold

was lovely to create projects with, including

“Precious” Layout by Alison Bevis”

With Triangles and graphic images a more modern layout to showcase a cute Mother and Daughter photo is always lovely…. and pretty ‘flat’ to add to an album too!

“You’re a Star” Layout by Alison Bevis

When I saw the background with the gold stars, I initially thought ‘Christmas’ (see, I really love Christmas!) but when I found this photo of our great nephew and his medal…. it quickly turned into a more boyish layout with the focus on the achievement!

“Love” journal page by Alison Bevis

My journal is filled with pages of colour, patterns and mostly, one word or a short verse… must have been feeling the ‘LOVE’ the day this was created?

TIME MACHINE

has the most beautiful combination of browns and teals!!

I created a Feminine Layout and a Masculine Layout using the SAME basic sketch, to show you how versatile this collection really can be..

“Love, this special moment” Layout by Alison Bevis (hopefully you know this is the Feminine version)

By choosing the pretty teals and beautiful damask patterns as the base and adding some clocks and cogs in the teal colours to embellish… you could easily add some flowers into the clustering to make it even more girly.

and the masculine version

“Rumble” layout by Alison Bevis (and you can see that this is the Masculine version!)

Same basic sketch but using the creams and browns, and the brown & black cogs to embellish (You could even add some metal cogs to the mix for a bit of authenticity!)

There needed to be a Male and Female Card also…

“Cards” by Alison Bevis

You can never have too many cards – if you love making them and find you have created a stash, then bundle a bunch with pretty ribbon and give them as a gift to someone who doesn’t have time to make some… or there is often an Aged Home or other community organization that loves donations they can sell… or simply use more – send a card to say “Hello” or just to let someone know you are thinking of them.. it really is lovely to find a card in your letterbox!!

time cards

and I really LOVE cards… so made a couple more…

The ‘spiral flowers’ (Left hand side) are made by cutting a ‘snail’ into one of the Cogs from the Collectables and secure with a spot of hot glue – Kaisercraft sells a die to make it even easier!

TM cards

and, one more… just with the black and creams for a bit of style!

TM HB Card

Kaisercraft products –  P1923 Hourglass | P1917 Clocks | P1924 Gadgets | P1921 Ironclad |  SS292 Sticker Sheet | CT836 Collectables | CD503 Card pack Square ‘white’ | CD511 Card pack C6 ‘white’ | CD512 Card Pack C6 ‘Kraft’ | EM405 Paper Doilies | F632 Paper Blooms ‘Sage’ | EM926 Lace Pack ‘White’ | KM105 Turquoise mist | KM102 Antique Gold

Just enough of the working week remaining to pick up some of the new August collections and create this weekend!! My suggestion is to get a start on Christmas!

Thanks for visiting today and always enjoy your creative time!

APRIL SKETCH CHALLENGE #4

This week’s sketch was based on Melissa Kennedy’s layout:

Products Used: Chanteuse Collection and Paper Pad, Printed Chipboard, Die Cuts, Cream Doilies, Paper Blooms and Flowers, Dress Form Flourish, Foam Tape. Other: Twinklets – Diamond Dust

And our Design Team had also had a go at this sketch:

‘Little girls’ by Nerrida Mitchell – Materials: Class of 87 papers – Assembly (P619), Book week (P618) & Sports Day (P621), Paper pad (PP837), Rub-ons (RB894), Reports cards (EM958), Crochet doileis – Nursery (EM953), Magic happens Black rub-ons (RB896) & Dolies (RB819), Paper flowers – Baby [ink (F607) & Baby blue (F614).

When creating a double layout, don’t be afraid to mix things up.  Try using 2 different co-ordinating papers for you layout base.  You keep a sense of uniformity while adding in an extra level of fun.  The Newprint paper is a little busier so the embellishing was kept to a minimum, while on the plainer Ledger paper a larger cluster with more height was able to be used.

Layout by Kerryn Lawson: Timeless pp Ledger (P652), Newsprint (P654), Nans Favourite Jam Drop specialty diecut (PS134), Secret Bird Society pp Classified (P545), Nans Favourites paper pad (PP836), Pearls – Chocolate (SB792), Pearl Flourishes – Chocolate (PL509), Alpha stickers – brown (AS225), Lace – Cream (EM927), Rubons – After 5 quotes (RB884), Lush Colour (RB868), Paper blooms – Buttercream (F629), Honey (F628), Wooden flourishes – Wheat (FL324), Bookplates Round (FL331), Birds (FL304), Secret Bird Society skeleton leaves (EM921), Seaside tickets (EM941). Other products used : Glimmermist, leaves, distress ink
