The prize:

1st PLACE: One of Kaisercraft’s new collections (valued at approximately $50).

2nd PLACE: A Kaisercraft scrap pack (including new products) valued at approximately $30.

Let’s have a closer look at Kerryn and Kirsty’s layouts:

“Double layouts (and sketches) can seem overwhelming.  Don’t feel that you have to try and fit everything in though.  Start with the number of photos you would like to use and build from there.  I have only used 3 4×6 photos but you can still clearly see the sketch within my layout.

I have used a couple of embellishment clusters in place of extra photos.  Make the sketch work for you and you will find that they aren’t as hard as they might seem”.

Kerryn Lawson: Products Used:After Five patterned paper Tuxedo (P581), Black Tie (P582), Cocktail (P583) and Crevat (P588), Paper flowers – snow (F601), Pearl flourishes – Elegant Pearl (PL507), Rhinestone flourishes – Decorative Island Lagoon (RS465), After Five diecut elements (DC329), Lush Black Rubons (RB867), After Five Quote rubons (RB884), Alpha Stickers – White (AS221) & Powder Blue (AS219, Secret Bird Society patterned paper – Private diecut (PS109), Be Merry patterned paper – Glee (P557), Homemade patterned paper – Simple Stitches (P568), Lush Colour rubons (RB868), After Five Borders Rubons (RB883), Rhinestones – Ice Blue (SB774), Pearls – Teal (SB783), Ink – Antique Blue (IP716), Lace – Black (EM929), After Five Champagne transparency (PS125), Paper tags & shapes – white (EM923), After Five 6×6 paper pad (PP833). Other products used : Prima butterfly, glimmermist, punches, kindyglitz, sizzix die, flowerbuds.

“I liked using this sketch! I managed to overcome my fear of Double page LOs easily, because this sketch made it easy to see where everything should go to give a balanced LO! The little tab above the photo on the left hand side, prompted me to add some extra hidden photos and journalling to my page!”

Tuesday Tips

Tuesday Tip: Printing onto Journaling Tags…

January 4, 2011

Unfortunately I am not too fond of my hand writing. I usually print out text stripes for my layouts, but I really like Kaisercraft’s journaling tags and want to use them. Today I am going to show you an easy way to print text on the journaling tags.

First, write your text on the computer. Make sure it’ll fit into the journaling tag. Print out the page.

Then put the journaling tag on top of the text and adhere it with some Scotch tape at the top and the bottom.

Put the sheet back into the printer and print out the page once again.

Remove the Scotch tape.

And finally you can use the printed journaling tag on your layout.

Layouts

In a flourish

December 26, 2010

I have to admit that on more than one occasion I have gotten into a little tangle when using the new rhinestone and pearl flourishes from Kaisercraft.  Recently I had one of those light bulb moments and no longer have any problems adhering my flourishes exactly where I want them without getting into a tangle.

The trick, I have found, is to use the plastic backing that the flourishes are adhered to.  Cut away a small piece of the plastic backing at the start of your flourish.

Adhere it in position on your layout and slowly peel back the plastic, adhering as you go.

This particular flourish went in two separate directions.  I simply cut the plastic in half so that I could concentrate on one flourish at a time.

The completed layout with flourishes in position.  I had these photos of my daughter that I had altered with a vintage photoshop action before printing.  I found the subtle vintage feel worked really well with the Seaside collection.

Now that I have discovered my diecutting/embossing machine I am reaching for it all the time.  Even the alphabet stickers aren’t safe!!
