Memory Lane Inspiration with Kylie Kingham

May 8, 2018

With an inviting colour palette and lovely floral undertones, the new Memory Lane collection is a must.

I really wanted to take hold of the floral theme and create a layout which was soft and full of dimension.

I couldn’t resist incorporating the die cut page ‘Shutters’ into the background.I cut it down to size and found it gave a nice balance to the overall finish.

There are many lovely flowers included in the collectables. I decided I wanted a few more and fussy cut some from the Misty Rose paper.

I kept layering the flowers with foam tape to build a cluster supporting the shutter frame. I kept going until I was happy with the balance. The wooden flourishes also added a lovely detail to the clusters.

Using the Jade Jewel paper and Spring Breeze (reversed),  I cut lots of vines, leaves and flourishes. These are great space fillers and the darker tone of them made my layout really pop.

I have also filmed my process for you all to take a look at-

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my layout today. Don’t forget to join the Kaisercraft Corner Facebook group HERE. It”s a great place for sharing your work and gaining lots of inspiration too.

Until next time,

Kylie.

Donna Espiritu Pen and Ink Scrapbooking layout Specialty Papers Tutorials

“Beautiful” Pen & Ink Layout by Donna Espiritu

April 24, 2018

Hello, everyone!
It’s Donna here with you today sharing a scrapbooking layout tutorial using the Pen and Ink collection. I’ve debated between making a card and layout. Of course, the layout won!

So, let’s start with the short step-by-step tutorial:

  1. I started with a white cardstock as the base. I will be trimming an inch off of this white cardstock later as you will see in the next steps. I mounted my photos with some foam tape for a bit of height.

2. To add texture and a bit of color, I used a mixture of black, brown and white metallic mists. I kept on adding white glimmer mist until it mixed beautifully with the brown and black mists. Using a heat tool, I dried the splatters before adding modeling paste with a spatula and stencil.

3. I placed a doily underneath the photo before adhering with glue.

4. I fussy cut a lot of images from one of the Pen & Ink specialty paper. I love how vibrant the black images are against the soft sepia tones of the papers in the collection.

5. As mentioned earlier, I trimmed an inch off the white cardstock. Then, I adhered it on the Lacey patterned paper.

6. I started embellishing after this with the Collectables and the rest of the fussy cut images from the specialty paper, Antiques.

7. For the final touch, I scattered black rhinestones following the diagonal flow of the page design.

Here are more detailed shots of the finished layout

I tucked in some wood flourishes and left them as is for a bit of color contrast.

I mounted some of the ephemera pieces with foam tape for dimension.

That’s all for now. I hope you liked my project! Do leave a comment if you have any questions regarding today’s project.

Thank you so much for dropping by and see you with a new project in a few days.

Happy crafting,

Donna

Dancing with Fairies ~ A layout by Kylie.

March 5, 2018

The soft pastel tones of ‘Fairy Garden’ will inspire you for many a pretty project.Delicate Florals, Butterflies and Fairies are all a part of this beautiful range. I was inspired to create a layout with this range and drew inspiration from the gorgeous prints included.Do you believe in Fairies??……

‘Down beneath the garden path,

Fairies gather to dance and laugh’………

Here is a look at my completed layout-

I’ve combined many different papers for my background and I love the mix of stripes, spots and florals. I back a quote from the sticker sheet with foam tape to add to the sticker border I have also added. It was a perfect descriptive piece for the theme of my overall layout.

I’ve layered lots of collectables to balance my photo and I have also added some delicate vines from the 3D flower die set. These are a great space filler and can add wonderful texture to your layout.

A close up showing some of the gorgeous collectables from the range. The cute little Fairies are a favourite.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing the layout I have shared with you all today. ‘Fairy Garden’ is set to be a very popular collection, perfect for creating many wonderful projects for the little girls in your life.

Until next time,

Kylie.

Tutorial Tuesday- “Love Blooms” layout with Kylie. Video included.

February 20, 2018

The lovely colour palette and paper prints of Miss Betty had me totally swooning this month. A truly lovely collection! Today I will share how I created my layout featuring lots of paper layers and some die cut flowers. I’ve prepared a process video for you all but before we begin though, let me show you my completed work-

There were so many pretty papers to choose from with the choice of floral, wood grain and fabric print just to name a few.It made my background paper choice hard to decide on!

To begin my layout I cut some length from my backing paper THREAD (reversed). This is probably the only element of my layout that I used precise measurements. I began by cutting 1″ (2.5cm) from top and bottom of my page.Keep both strips, and proceed to cut another 1cm (10mm) from both top and bottom again. Both these smaller strips can be discarded.

Next I cut two 2″ (5cm) strips from ‘SEWN’ .

From here it was a matter of reconstructing my backing paper. I had distressed some edges a little to give texture before doing so.

As you will see in my video I have incorporated three different papers through the middle of my layout. I did not use specific measurements for these and preferred to go by cutting by eye and what fitted best. Once I had backed my photo and laid everything in place I lightly marked everything with pencil so I could get it back in place after using some stamps in the background. This can be a really helpful tip for work where you include mixed media of some form.

Here is a look at my full process video.I hope you enjoy.

I was super happy with the layered element my paper flowers added to my layout, and the wooden flourish button were perfect as a cute centre. The extra leaves I punched also give a nice extra texture too.

A close up of the stamps I used in my background. I think these will become a favourite as I just love the design of them.

I hope you have enjoyed my project today and it inspires you in your own scrapbooking. Don’t forget to join the Kaisercraft Facebook group HERE to share your work and find lots more inspiration.

Until next time,

Kylie.

Beach Shack Donna Espiritu Scrapbooking layout

“Bliss” Scrapbooking Layout by Donna Espiritu

February 19, 2018

Hello everyone. Donna here sharing a scrapbooking layout using the Beach Shack collection

I also used the Wooden Flourishes and Decorative Dies that coordinates with the collection.

Flourish Pack Beach 35pcs

Decorative Die – Porthole

I don’t have much beach photos or I should rather say, no beach photos at all. But I remembered my dear friend took this photo of me and my family two years ago when we went to Al Wajh, Saudi Arabia. One of the oldest coastal city in north-western Saudi Arabia, situated on the coast of the Red Sea.

I printed two photos and placed it side by side like so. I mounted these with foam tapes for a bit of dimension.

I used one of the specialty papers in the Beach Shack collection as background. Then I brushed a combination of blue, teal, brown and black watercolors. Then magic happens as beautiful patterns in the paper are revealed.

I layered lots of die cuts or collectables underneath and around the two photos. The embellishment is a mixture of paper and wooden flourishes. I also used one paper from the 6 1/2 paper pad that has a wonderful shimmer to it. It’s difficult to capture but the shimmer is beautiful.

I added a thin, brown hemp afterward. I thought the layout needed something to contrast the blueish tone of the page. I placed the brown hemp underneath the photos and the embellishments.

This is quite a simple layout to make and I’m sure you can recreate this as well.
