A mini of memories

When my son finished kindergarten last year I was given some photos that had been taken during his year there.  I was a little unsure what to do with them, until now that is.

The Class of 87 collection worked perfectly.  There was a paper that worked with every single photo.  Mind you it helped that most of them were taken in the sandpit LOL.

(The dymo strip along the bottom has the name of my sons kindy on it, which is why it’s been distorted).

I kept the inside pages of the album relatively simple with a photo on one side and journalling on the other.  (I don’t have his best mates parents permission to use his photo here which is why it has been covered).

Mini albums are a great way to record a special event and with such a great variety to choose from there is sure to be a Kaisercraft collection to suit.

Sisterly Love – Magic Happens mini album

Kirsty here to show you some TRUE magic using the Magic Happens Collection…my girls actually getting along together! LOL

I had a growing pile of photos on my desk featuring my all time favourite photos of my children. The photos were just random snaps that didn’t really co-ordinate well enough to be featured on a single page. I decided that some of them would be perfect to use in a cute little mini album and truly, how perfect is the Magic Happens collection for little girls?!

Kirsty Piper; Sisterly Love. Magic Happens Collection- Patterned Paper Pixie(P627), Fairytale(P625), Spirit(P628), Enchanted(P626), Potion(P624). Rubons(RB896), Clear Stamps(CS772), 6 1/2″ Paper pad(PP838). KaiserCraft Other; Flower Designer Album(SB2013), KaiserColor Tropical Water(KC042), Paper Blooms Sea Breeze(F631), Rhinestone Flourish Decorative-Island Lagoon(RS465), Pearls-Bliss(SB718), Tiny Alpha Stickers-Black(MA513)

I love that some of  my favourite photos of my girls are all together in this album. Now, when they start to fight I can get it out and have a look, and remind myself that they DO actually love each other!

And they like looking at these older photos of themselves too!

Unexpected Love…

This month’s fabulous new collection “Love Notes”, is an absolute pleasure to play with!  And like every collection here at Kaisercraft, you can use it to create projects that you may not immediately associate it with.

Today, Trudi and I would like to share projects that go beyond the page.

When I first saw this collection, I definitely wanted to build an album for my pre-teen daughter.  Tweens are “into” hot pink and black?  Right?! LOL!  So this new range was perfect for her.

“Love” album by Leanne Allinson: Love Notes collection.  Album – love (sb132); adore (p606), dreamy (p607), love song (p605); clear stamps – love notes (cs769); ink – black (ip707), hot pink (ip713); rhinestone strip – hot pink (rs454); pearl flourish – black (pl518); journal tags (jt612); grosgrain ribbon – monochrome (ri601); album ring – sandstone (mo17); paint – black (kc031).  Other: embroidery floss; blue pen; paperclip heart; heart punch.

To make the album more “girly” rather than “sweetheart”, I’ve added some grungy paper beads to the front cover and instead of several album rings, I’ve used just one and tied the rest of the album together with ribbon.

Now she has a place to store special photos of her school friends and to write down her own memories during her school years.

Trudi has also created a mini album.

A ‘funky hearts’ album of love dedicated to her young niece and nephew.

‘Cherubs’ by Trudi Harrison

‘Cherubs’ Mini Album by Trudi Harrison.  Materials Used: Love Notes Collection Patterned Papers Dedicate (P603), Promise (P604), Love Song (P605), Dreamy (P607), Affection (P609), Die Cuts (DC332), Journal Tags (JT602),  Printed Chipboard (CB120); Wood Flourishes – Keys (FL306) Fancy Hearts Packaging (FL316); Pearls - Hot Pink; Ink – Hot Pink & Black; Grosgrain Ribbon; Mini Clear Stamp - Gift of Love (CS932); Funky Hearts Album.

My album is dedicated to my young niece and nephew, who I just happen to think as delightful little cherubs.

I opted for a softer ’sweetheart’ version for my album.  The darker grey colour of the Love Song patterned paper was introduced for contrast and to also balance the ‘girly’ factor of the pink tonings.   After all,  the album is for a girl and boy.

Embellishing has been created from the Love Notes Collection.  Various hearts have been cut from the Dedicate and Affection patterned papers and coordinated with small strips of patterned paper, die cuts, printed chipboard accents and journal tag.

Kaisercraft grosgrain ribbon, mini sentiment stamp, Wood Flourishes -Key and  fancy scrolls cut from the reverse of the Wood Flourishes – Fancy Hearts packaging, finish it off.

Where will Love Notes take you on your next unexpected creative journey?

Summer Breeze – mini albums

The bright and beachy Seaside collection makes me long for summer, even more so at the moment since it is Winter in Sweden and there’s a lot of snow. But I grabbed some photos from our vacation in early August and made a fun mini album to remember the warmer days!

“Västkusten” by Camilla Ekman: Long Ticket Album (SB2060); Papers – Seaside collection: Coastline (P595), Sea Breeze (P594); Die Cut Elements – Seaside (DC330); Rubons – Seaside (RB886); Embellishment Pack – Seaside (EM941); Journal Tags – Seaside (JT610); Embellishment Pack – Seaside (EM942); Island Lagoon Flourish (RS459); Crochet Doilie (Em946); Flowers – snow (F601); Flowers – taupe (F603); Flowers – baby blue (F614); Pearls – yellow (SB797); Rhinestones – Island Lagoon (RS402); Pearls – Copper (SB790); Grosgain Ribbon – ocean (RI609); Clear Stamps – Dated (CS724); Album Rings – Dark Brown (M019)

Other: thickers

Kirsty has also created a quick and easy album for her children to look through, using a single sheet of carstock and the gorgeous summery Seaside collection!

“The photos in the album were taken at the last beach holiday we had with my mum, so they are especially precious, and the children are forever asking to look through them. Now they have a special little album that they can flick through whenever they like :)

“Holiday” Mini Album by Kirsty Piper: Seaside- Coastline (P595), 6′ Paper Pad (PP834), Embellishment Pack Canvas Tags(EM942), Embellishment Pack Tickets (EM941), Rub ons Black(RB885), Chipboard Alphabet #1(CB107)

The pages inside the album are of all different shapes and sizes, encouraging the reader to turn to the next page by giving them a tantalizing glimpse of what comes next.

One of the pages in the little album is actually an envelope, which allows for extra photographs, or in this case, some hidden journaling.

Kirsty says “I just love this collection, it is absolutely perfect for scrapping precious summer memories…and my all time favourite feature of this collection? The fact that the Escape Patterned Paper(P593) is made up using some gorgeous Aussie beach names!”

A gift of Roses

Lesley here to share a project I made from the gorgeous English Rose collection and an empty packet of chewing gum! As soon as I bought this packet of chewing gum I knew that it would make a cool little something! I have altered it and turned it into a super cute little quote mini album with the help of the English Rose collection.

“Quote Mini Album” by Lesley Cooper: English Rose Collection Patterned Paper Estelle (P598), Frieda (P600); Rub Ons (RB888); Die Cut Elements (DC331); Clear Stamps (CS768); Mini Clear Stamps (CS929); Organza Ribbon (RI614); Pearl Flourish (PL509); Other: distress ink

Once the chewing gum packet was empty, I carefully opened it up where it was joined so it was flat. I glued this onto a piece of English Rose patterned paper and then cut it out. Because the packet has all its fold marks it was easy to just fold it all back up again and reglue. No measuring and scoring! Look how pretty it looks! Before gluing I used a scapel to make a notch in the front for the flap to fit. I used the inside of the packet as a guideline of where to cut it.

I decorated the outside with patterned paper, rub ons, diecut, stamp, some pearls and a handmade rose.

Inside I made 2 little booklets with quotes. The quotes have been printed onto some English Rose patterned paper, distress inked and then stamped with versamark and perfect pearls rubbed onto the image. I printed these quotes on the computer but check out the new mini clear stamps. There are a lot of cool sayings and words which could be used instead.

And there you have a unique and beautiful gift to give to someone special.
