Beyond the Page with Lakehouse…

June 15, 2012

Hello all you crafters, Michelle, Leanne and Lori with you all today! Can you believe that it has been almost a year since the current design team began their journey?  We cannot believe how fast that time has gone. We are thrilled to share with you today our projects using the divine Lake House collection…

“Frame” by Leanne Love

Leanne says:
“How fantastic does the wood grain stamp look when you ink and stamp around one of the Kaisercraft frames.  Divine.  These papers are so pretty and oh so feminine.  I am loving it more and more every time I pull it out to play.  As usual this range will not disappoint when it comes to embellishments.  So much variety that you are going to have to buy the whole collection.”

“Lakehouse Wall Plaque” by Lori Williams

Lori says” What a charming beyond the page this turned out to be.  I adore the color combo of Lakehouse andI also like the girly feel to the whole line.  Using the Lakehouse collection made this wall plaque wonderful for my dressing area.  I like looking at it in the morning as it makes me feel like I’m starting the day off fresh and beautiful just like the bird on this piece.”

‘Ball Memories’ Album by Michelle Frisby

Materials used : The Lakehouse CT717 Collectables, PP871 Paper Pad, F657 Fairy Floss Mini Paper Blooms, Coconut Kaiser cardstock, PL514 Black Flourish Pearls, SS138 Check In Borders Sticker Sheet, MA509 Tiny Alphas – White, M008 2.5 cm Silver Album Rings

Extras : muslin, baubles, miscellaneous flowers, chipboard album, doily lace edge punch, seam binding

Michelle Says:
“Here are some of the inside pages of the album …”

“You’ve seen earlier this week, my layout featuring Brenna in her ball gown.  She looked absolutely stunning and it was a natural progression to put together a mini album for Brenna with photos from her own school ball – something that I hope she treasures for years to come.  This release from Kaisercraft; The Lakehouse collection of papers and die cuts made this album relatively easy to put together. What made it a little more difficult; Brenna and Nathan are ball partners, not boyfriend and girlfriend! It would have been so much easier if they were … oh wow, did I just say that?  I really wanted to add to this album, but it wouldn’t have been appropriate, if that makes sense.  You will be seeing a few more photos coming up, as they are partners in crime again for ‘his’ school ball.

Happy creating everyone.”

“I Do” Layout By Melissa Kennedy

Materials Used:
These Days Paper Collection, Collectables, Sticker Sheet, CD107 Eggshell Cardstock, R707 Ribbon Roses- Peach (available in March), FL370 Cameo, EM927 Cream Lace, RB917 In Love Rub On, F652 Terracotta Mini Paper Blooms. OTHER: Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink, Paper Doilies – small and large.

“Saturday Sketch: #3 February”

Today we have Lori Leng who has made a layout from the above sketch!

“Puppy Love” Layout by Lori Leng

KaiserCraft Products Used: Tiny Woods Collection including: P794 Cedar, P795 Sycamore, P791 Cypress, RB956 Rub ons, PP862 Paper Pad, CS760 Tags Stamp, Mini Alpha Stickers MA505

Other Products Used: Twine, Embossing Folders, Punches, Sanding Paper, Distress Ink

Lori Says:
“The circles were run through the embossing folder and then lightly sanded to bring out the white core of the paper.
(This is my favorite technique) I applied red distress ink on the corner of the large photo and then ran the photo through an embossing folder over the distressed area only.   I sanded the picture lightly on the embossed area to reveal the flourish.  This helps to connect the picture and the circle embellishments with the same flourish motif.
The lollipop flowers were created by punching them out with a hand punch in various sizes of circles and scalloped circles, inked the edges and then distressed the edges with scissors.  Don’t be afraid if you tear the paper a little, that adds to the distressed look. I then used a ball tip tool and foam pad, and pressed and creased the edges to give the irregular raised scalloped edges and then layered the flower offset.
I created the leaves of the flowers using twine.  The trick here is to use a glue with a metal tip attachment for a very very fine line of glue.  I basically drew with the glue tip and then applied the twine on top.”

Saturday Sketch # 3 November

Today we have Toni and Lori showing us their take on todays sketch:

“Memories” Layout By Toni Crane

Products used:
Kaisercraft Madame Boutique Lingerie (P754), Pinafore (P753), Bloomers (P756) Madame Boutique Sticker Sheet (SS117), Madame Boutique Collectables (CT701), Cock-a-doodle-doo Meow (P761)
Other Products: Flowers

Toni says:
“I loved this sketch, but didn’t have photos to fit it, so I enlarged the horizontal photo, and then substituted the two vertical photos with the quote, and behind that is a journal block for hidden journalling. Adding the vine stickers rather than strips of pattern paper added interest and contrast without overwhelming the photo.”

Card Making Tuesday Tips

Tuesday Tip: Shaker Card

October 11, 2011

Hi Kaisercrafties. Welcome to our weekly Tuesday Tip! Today we have Lori Williams Leng showing us how to make a ‘Shaker Card’.

Lori Says:
“I love making shaker elements/cards.  They are so easy and add a really fun touch to your projects. First here is a list of products you’ll need: Paper, X-acto Tool, Foam Tape, Glitter, Acetate Sheet .”

“You need three parts for the base shaker…the back, front frame and clear acetate sheet.  I reused the product packaging for the acetate and cut to size. For my sample I used one of our tags and cut out the center with an X-acto tool to form the frame. Once you have your top frame cut, cut your acetate sheet just a bit larger the the frame and glue down to the backside of the top frame. Next cut your back out to match up to your top frame. You know it’s correct when you layer the three pieces together and everything matches up along the edges.”

“Next line the back of the top frame with foam tape.  Be sure to have all the corners meeting with no gaps or holes or your shaker material will shake out.”

“Step four is add a bit of glass glitter or whatever you want to use for your filling.  There are all types of little things to use, so use your imagination.  Once you have your filling in the frame, apply the back with the foam tape and press down to be sure to seal it all around.”

“Finish off the front of your frame with any additional embellishments and shake away.”

“Here is my card I did using the Bonjour collection and where I added a shaker element.”

Materials Used:
Bonjour Paper Pad PP853, Bonjour Icon Stickers SS113, Foam Tape T303
