Fly high and free with Kirsten Hyde

July 24, 2015

Hello everyone. This is Kirsten Hyde here, posting my first my first post for the Kaisercraft blog. I wanted to show you some inspiration from the July collections from Kaisercraft.

I made a short video to show you the collections:

The little one collection

Little one

The Little One collection is filled with hot air balloons, clouds, elephants and owls. It is super cute for creating things for young kids. I got inspired by the hot air balloons on the paper and decided to create a baby mobile with hot air balloons

The template for the balloon and the basket is shown here:

I have also made a tutorial on how to create the balloon and the basket:

The Botanica Collection

Botanica collection

It is summer in Norway at the moment, and I had just planted a few plants in some flower pots, and left them out on the terrace. After a short time, my little Jack Russell came in to see me with lots of soil around her mouth, so she was busted. I had to take a photo, and this inspired me to create a a layout.

I sprayed the background with mist and added ink. Then I added all the elements.

The Fly Free collection

Fly Free

This collection is full of vibrant colours, butterflies and birds.

“You make life beautiful” card

I decided to create a vibrant feminine card. I wanted to keep the main colours to white and pink, and add some butterflies. I have also used dies to create white die cuts to add some contrast in the card.

Mixed Media Mini Album

I really enjoy mixed media, and I wanted to create something with some different colours and style with this collection. Therefore I created a small album.

Kaisercraft Fly free minialbum mixed media Kirsten Hyde 1

I do collect all sorts of old bits of metal and lace, and find them again when I am doing mixed media. I add paint and mists, and then use them for mixed media items. The album locks with a knob on the front, and a some trim folding around the knob from the back of the album.

Botanica, Babies and Butterflies with Belinda

July 20, 2015

Hello and welcome to my very first post as Contributing Design Team member for Kaisercraft!

I am absolutely thrilled to have joined this amazing team and can’t wait to share my love of Kaisercraft products with you. I could not have asked for better collections to start this journey with. This release has some absolutely stunning products and I am excited to share my projects with you.

First up are my projects for the gorgeous Botanica Collection.

Botanica Header

‘Grow Love’ Mini Shadow Frame

KC July - Botanica Mini Shadow Frame 1

For this mini shadow frame, I used papers from the paper pad which fit the shadow frame perfectly, as well as elements I fussy cut from the patterned papers. I even added some actual botanical items I found laying around my farm.

Kaisercraft materials: PP973 Paper Pad | P1876 Roots | P1880 Habitat | CT831 Collectables | SS286 Sticker Sheet | SB2284 Mini 5 Frame Shadow Frame | F633 Paper Blooms – Olive | F650 Mini Paper Blooms – Olive | F660 Mini Paper Blooms – Amethyst | CB108 Alpha Chipboard – Alpha #2 | FL441 Wooden Flourishes Pennants.

Other materials: hemp cord | ink.

‘One Perfect Moment’ Layout

KC July - Botanica One Perfect Moment 1 copy

I just love that stunning woodgrain paper in the collection so I just had to create a layout with that as the base. I am a massive fan of the Kaisermists too so added the Antique Gold mist to my background before layering on the photo and embellishments.

I chose the cutest photo of my darling daughter from 2011 sitting in the grass on the farm after picking sour sobs. It just worked so perfectly with the gorgeous die cuts in the Collectables.

Here’s a closer look at the layering of my embellishments.

KC July - Botanica One Perfect Moment 2

Kaisercraft materials: P1873 Leaf | P1874 Pollen | PS416 Vine Specialty Paper | CT831 Collectables | SS286 Sticker Sheet | CS223 Clear StampsFL376 Wooden Flourishes Berry Vine | F633 Paper Blooms – Olive | F650 Mini Paper Blooms – Olive | KM102 Kaisermist Antique Gold | IP721 Ink Pad Gum Leaf | IP724 Ink Pad Bark | IP730 Ink Pad Avocado.

Other materials: date stamp.

And lastly I have created a quick card using the delightful lilac tones in the collection.

‘You Are Beautiful’ Card

KC July - Botanica Beautiful Card 1

I loved the embossed print paper in the paper pad and wanted the pattern to be more visible so I lightly rubbed the Orchid Ink Pad over the paper in a circular motion to bring out all of the lovely detail in the area where my embellishments would be. I then stamped lots of leaves from the Clear Stamps in the same Orchid ink, fussy cut and layered onto my card. I then added a quote and flowers in co-ordinating lilacs. The monochromatic colour scheme creates a soothing, calm effect.

Kaisercraft materials: PP973 Paper Pad | CT831 Collectables | CS223 Clear StampsCD511 Card Pack C6 White IP732 Ink Pad Orchid | F660 Mini Paper Blooms – Amethyst | F659 Mini Paper Blooms – Misty.

Next up is the totally adorable Little One Collection.

Little One Header

The images and papers in this collection are just so cute and cater for both little boys and girls. So to be fair of course I had to create a card and layout for both.

‘Precious Bundle’ Boy Layout

KC July - Little One Precious Bundle Layout 1

KC July - Little One Precious Bundle Layout 3

The combination of the clouds and hot air balloons is just too cute and perfect for little baby boy projects. I really loved the colour mix of the soft grey with the blues too. They are such calming colours that I just had to use this photo of my son on a rare occasion where he was sleeping on his own! It didn’t happen too often so was definitely cause for celebration and definitely a moment to be recorded in his album.

Kaisercraft materials: P1881 Ollie | P1882 Jack | P1887 Harry | P1889 Cooper | CT832 Collectables | KM106 Kaisermist DenimFL437 Wooden Flourishes Hot Air Balloons | IP726 Ink Pad Island.

‘Welcome Little One’ Baby Boy Card

KC July - Little One Card Boy 1 copy

For this card, I wanted to create the effect of a blue sky on the background cardstock. I used my favourite Turquoise Kaisermist on the cardstock, added some water and blotted with scrunched paper towel to create a watercolour effect. It created the loveliest ‘sky’ in which to float a sweet hot air balloon. I die cut some tags from the patterned papers and layered together with the hot air balloon and fussy cut clouds.

Kaisercraft materials: P1882 Jack | P1886 Noah | CT832 Collectables | CD511 Card Pack C6 White | CD101 Kaisercard Coconut | DD105 Decorative Die Love Hearts | DD108 Decorative Die Geo Tags | DD517 Decorative Die Tag Shapes | KM105 Kaisermist Turquoise | IP726 Ink Pad Island | T302 Mounting Foam Dots.

‘Baby Hayley’ Baby Girl Layout

KC July - Baby Hayley Layout 1

KC July - Baby Hayley Layout 3

I just adored the oh so happy combination of pink and orange for this layout. Teamed with sweet little owls, hot air balloons and fluffy clouds it made for the cutest little baby girl layout. I used one of my favourite snapshots of my daughter when she had just learned to poke out her tongue and of course had to keep practising until she got the hang of it.

Kaisercraft materials: P1883 Zoe | P1884 Mia | P1888 Chloe | CT832 Collectables | CD101 Cardstock Coconut | CB109 Alpha Chipboard Alpha #3 | KM110 Kaisermist Pink | EM405 Paper Doilies | IP725 Ink Pad Petal Pink | IP729 Ink Pad Tangello | IP731 Ink Pad Berry.

Other materials: wire thread.

‘Hello Little One’ Baby Girl Card

KC July - Hello Little One Card 1

For this card, I used a pink, orange and grey colour scheme with lots of layering of sweet images from the collection.

Kaisercraft materials: P1883 Zoe | P1884 Mia | P1888 Chloe | CT832 Collectables | PS417 Specialty Paper ABC KM110 Kaisermist Pink | SB786 Pearls Rose | IP725 Ink Pad Petal Pink | IP729 Ink Pad Tangello | IP731 Ink Pad Berry.

Other materials: wire | Posca Pen white.

Lastly the Fly Free Collection.

Fly Free Header

This is such a stunning collection with gorgeous bright blooms, birds and butterflies. So perfect for girly projects.

‘Be Happy’ Layout

KC July - Be Happy Layout 1

KC July - Be Happy Layout 2

I was immediately drawn to the black lined patterned paper and thought that it would really make those bright colours pop off the page. My daughter just happened to be wearing clothes that coordinated perfectly with the colours in the collection.

Kaisercraft materials: P1891 Friend | P1892 Partner | P1895 Gal Pal | CT833 Collectables | PS419Specialty Paper Bond | CD102Cardstock LicoriceCB109 Alpha Chipboard Alpha #3 | KM110 Kaisermist Pink | IP719 Ink Pad Black | IP731 Ink Pad Berry | IP725 Ink Pad Petal Pink | IP729 Ink Pad Tangello | FL341 Wooden Flourishes Magical Butterflies | AS252 Alpha Sticker Sheet White.

‘Happy Today’ Layout

KC July - Happy Today Layout 1

KC July - Happy Today Layout 3

For my last layout, I could not resist fussy cutting lots of images from the papers and clustering together on a watercolour effect background. I used a black and white photo of my daughter so as not to clash with any of the colours in the collection.

Kaisercraft materials: P1890 QT | P1894 Bestie | P1898 Kindred Spirit | CT833 Collectables | PS419 Specialty Paper Bond | CS225 Clear StampsCD101 Cardstock Coconut | KM107 Kaisermist Peach | IP727 Ink Pad Lagoon | IP729 Ink Pad Tangello.

Other materials: date stamp.

I hope you have been inspired by my projects today and you love the collections as much as I do. Make sure you visit the blog again tomorrow for lots more inspiration.

Thank you for checking out my projects today.

Flying Free with Sonia Thomason

July 13, 2015

Sonia Thomason here with you on the blog today. I am so excited to be putting together my first post with Kaisercraft and it’s apt that one of the gorgeous collections is called Fly Free! I have used one of the quotes from the Collectables pack on my layout and it sums up this current journey that I’m on ‘Let your dreams take flight’.

Fly Free Collection:

It actually felt like a bit of a dream to open up my Design Team boxes and see all of the beautiful collections that are coming up. However I must say the ‘Fly Free’ collection caught my eye straight away with the striking colours and butterflies everywhere (I am just slightly partial to a butterfly or two). Seeing as I couldn’t decide which of the butterflies to use from the Specialty paper ‘Gloss Bond’, I pretty much used all of them!

“Let Your Dreams Take Flight” a layout by Sonia Thomason

Kaisercraft Products used: Paper Fly Free collection PS419 ‘Gloss Bond’, P1892 ‘Partner’, P1894 ‘Bestie’ | Cardstock CD102 Weave ‘Licorice’ | CT833 Fly Free Collectables | CS225 Fly Free Stamps | EM405 Paper Doilies | KM101 Mist Charcoal, KM102 Mist Antique Gold, KM110 Mist Pink | T621 Template ‘Damask Quarters’ | IP719 Black Ink | DD517 Decorative Dies ‘Tag Shapes’

I used the Tag Shapes Die to cut a Tag from Cardstock and then stamped on the Tag using the Fly Free Clear Stamps. I drew a border around the edge of the tag using a black pen. How gorgeous is the little butterfly on the stamp?

Little One Collection:

Whilst I went very girly with the Fly Free collection, the Little One Collection offers a fabulous variety of either boy or girl papers. This collection is both a scrappers and a card makers must have! The images are fun and the possibilities endless with layouts, cards or off the page projects:

Kaisercraft products used: Papers Little One Collection P1888 ‘Chloe’ | Cardstock CD101 ‘Coconut’ | CT832 Little One Collectables | DD510 Decorative Die ‘Nesting Frames’ | T303 Foam Tape

Did you know that there are Decorative Dies that fit perfectly with the papers that Kaisercraft release? The largest of the Nesting Dies fits this image to perfection and saves so much time with fussy cutting! I’ve used the same Die on the Baby Boy card as well. Add some foam tape under your images and it really makes the card pop:

Kaisercraft products used: Papers Little One Collection P1889 ‘Cooper’ | Cardstock CD101 ‘Coconut’ | CT832 Little One Collectables | DD510 Decorative Die ‘Nesting Frames’ | T303 Foam Tape

Botanica Collection:

When I saw the gorgeous mists that we were sent I had to have a play in my Art Journal. The soft greens and yellows of the Botanica Collection were perfect to use as the base of my pages. This collection has beautiful images of plants and nature with a gorgeous woodgrain paper to add contrast:

“Single Moments” a Journal Page by Sonia Thomason

Kaisercraft products used: Paper Botanica Collection P1872 ‘Plant’, P1873 ‘Leaf’, P1874 ‘ Pollen’, P1879 ‘Botany’ | CT831 Botanica Collectables | CS223 Clear Stamps Botanica | CS752 Texture Stamp ‘Script’ | KM101 Mist Charcoal, KM103 Mist Yellow, KM104 Mist Green | EM405 Paper Doilies | F643 Paper Blooms ‘Amethyst’ | F660 Mini Paper Blooms ‘Amethyst’| SB705 Rhinestones ‘Lilac’ | T613 Template ‘Quarters’ | IP719 Ink Black, IP724 Ink Bark | TM804 Bookplates Brass | Decorative Dies DD503 ‘Butterflies’, DD517 ‘Tag Shapes’

As these pages are in a journal, the embellishments need to be relatively flat. The colours of the Amethyst Paper Blooms were perfect but a little too bulky for a journal. So I removed the centre part of the larger flowers and added some pearl stamens. If you are careful about how you remove the centre part and don’t damage it, put it aside to use in another project. It’s always fun to use your embellishments in a different way.

The Butterfly Decorative Die cuts the most beautiful layered butterfly so you can use papers that tone together or contrasting ones if your prefer:

The leaves and flowers have been fussy cut from the Botanica Pollen paper and don’t forget to have fun with those mists! Spray, splatter or drip – they all have wonderful effects on your creations:

I hope you’ve found a little something to get those creative juices flowing! I know I’m itching to get playing again

Happy creating!

Paper Play with Collette

July 8, 2015

Hi Kaisercrafters, Collette here today and I feel super privileged to have this time with you on the blog. I have spent some time thinking about what I can do to ‘inspire you’ to get the paper out and play!

We all know the benefits of paper play! As well as being great fun, it can be relaxing and I have been told by my papercrafting  friends that it is often prescribed  by doctors as a remedy for many ailments! Maybe that’s why I am blessed with good health…I am always playing with paper!

Today I have something for the lovely cardmakers and something for the lovely Scrappers.

For our cardmakers, I have made a video for this super cute card!

The foundation is really impressive and if you check back on yesterday’s blog with the amazing cards done by the Design Team using the ‘Botanica Collection’, you will see this same card foundation decorated with Botanica papers!

As a friend has recently had a new baby, I just had to do one in the new ‘Little One Collection’. Gee……the collection is just so darn cute! Owls, hot air balloons, elephants….you simply need to check it out!

The video is about 16 minutes long, so go put the kettle on, put your feet up, enjoy and then play!

Just what the doctor ordered lol!

Kaisercraft Products Used: ‘Little One’ Collection: Paper Pad PP974;

Collectables CT832. Kaisercard Island CD150.  Rhinestone Silver SB700.

Glue Runner T326. Foam Tape T303.

Other Products Used: Organza Ribbon.

For the Scrappers, I have gone back to basics!

I have a shop in a tourist town, (Hervey Bay, Qld) and so many visitors say they would love to scrap but don’t know how to get started; there are no classes where they live. Others say that they have not scrapped for ages and find it a bit hard to get going.

I have made a video that runs through some of those basic guidelines and techniques that are so useful when we start out, and a reminder as we progress on our journey.

The video is a wee bit longer; I hope you find time to watch it and more importantly I do hope that you pick up a couple of tips that will inspire you to play!

Pops of Colour – Anita Bownds

July 1, 2015
Hi happy July everyone!!
Anita Bownds here, Wow I am so excited to be kicking off the new blogging schedule
and to be part of the team again for another year.. ( happy dance )
I’m a big fan of taking photographs of flowers
and when I seen the Botanical collection.
I was excited to start playing with it that hint of purple with the green, is just absolutely lovely.
“In Bloom” layout by Anita Bownds

I started off with white card stock for the base of most of my layouts, as I love white space.
I love adding a border around my layouts it gives that little extra colour

On top of my paper, I added some glassine paper that I had embossed with the roses embossing folder to lighten the paper and to add some texture to it.

I cut my title out with my silhouette cameo using a bit of patterned paper from the 6×6 paper pad
And added some purple watercolor lightly across it .
Kaisercraft materials:  CS223 clear stamps, PP973 paper pad |CT831 collectables
P1875 seed | P1876 roots |P1877 stem
CD101 kaisercard weave white |EF207 roses
T314 Double sided tape |T302  mounting foam
Other materials: Silhouette cut | machine stitching | white embossing powder |glassine paper.

This is just a simple card that I’ve added some collectables and embossed stamped leaf with a twine bow.

“Forever” Botanica Card by Anita Bownds

Kaisercraft materials: P1879 botany | CT831 collectables
CS223 clear stamps |T302  mounting foam
Other |Twine | white embossing powder |glassine paper | white cardstock

I totally love all the flowers in this “Fly Free” paper collection

I went with simple layers using the 12×12 papers and the paper pad,  I do like mixing
with the small and big pattern on the paper I think it adds that verity.
The pops of colour with this lovely collection was inspirational,
the perfect colour tones for that girly layout.
“Because of your Smile” layout by Anita Bownds
Every once in a while I get a collection of my daughters selfies,
that I like to document, I really get to see how much she has really grown up.
I’m one of those Scrappers that don’t scrap all the photos I take but I do
enjoy looking back through them from time to time.
The fussy cut flowers add that little extra lovely to the layout I think,
just tucked behind the collectables and lightly glued down.

I love flicking mist but I do try not to go to crazy with it, LOL,
and a few scattered rhinestones add extra colour.

Kaisercraft Materials: P1898 Kindred Sprit |P1894 Bestie |P1897 Sister
