Sparkle Tutorial – December Magic

August 15, 2018

December Magic Layout
Today we are sharing a gorgeous layout from our Design Team member Rikki Graziani

“When I look at a collection for the first time, I break it down in a couple of ways…. What can be fussy cut? What can be layered and how can I get it to interact with a photo once I chose one. So with that in mind I wanted to make a sort of branch with the geometric background and cut out different pieces. Then what’s a tree without some leaves? The poinsettias are always a great one to fussy cut and layer with foam tape; they can easily be cut in a number of ways and even with the spare petals they can be tucked in and around to bulk out the flower. Then things to hang off the branch….. The snowflake and rhinestone strips are perfect for that to help draw your eye down and around the layout. And the decorations being white and foil draw your eye to the photo”

Geometric patterns are all the rage.  Team that with rose gold and this paper is so versatile.

Rikki has carefully cut away sections of this to make a feature for the top of her layout.

Letters To Santa Mabel Sim NEW Product Tutorials

Santa Claus Says Merry Christmas! by Mabel Sim

September 26, 2017

Hi everyone!

I’m Mabel and I’m here to share with you a tutorial with the new Letters to Santa Collection to create a simple Christmas themed frame that is so apt for your Christmas display.

I first start with a 8×8 inches shadow box which I prepped it with an even coat of white gesso. You can also use any white acrylic paint/white opaque paint to replace gesso if you do not own one.

In the meantime, while waiting for the gesso to dry, cut down P2388 Christmas Poinsettia as a base.

I had also fussy cut out my centrepiece for today with P2395 Be Merry. I trimmed out the circle sentiment and mount it on foam tapes to give it some dimension.

Layering is always the key to make your project looks sophisticated. It is actually a very simple technique of arranging your pieces together on different heights. For this time round, I am making use of the rim of the shadowbox to show different layers. I had fussy cut out Mr. Santa from P2389 Dear Santa and stuck it to the bottom corner of my frame.

To balance out the opposite end, I am also adhering pieces from the CT890 Collectables as well as from P2393 Holly & Berries, followed by Christmas streamers from SS347 Sticker Sheet.

Adding pulled cheese cloth will also add some additional interest to the project.

Simply cut down the cheese cloth to tiny bits and tug it gently for the strings to break apart from its usual placement, adhere them to the bottom of your flowers.

Here’s the final look and some close up pictures. :)

Kaisercraft products: Letters to Santa Collection – SS347 Sticker Sheet | P2388 Christmas Poinsettia | P2389 Dear Santa | P2393 Holly & Berries | P2395 Be Merry | CT890 Collectables | RS450 Rhinestones Strip Red | T302 Mounting Foam Dots | T321 Acid Free Craft Glue

Others: Shadow Box, White Gesso, Cheese Cloth

That’s all for my tutorial. Simple ain’t it?

Donna Espiritu Layouts Letters To Santa

“Believe” layout by Donna Espiritu

September 14, 2017

Hello!

Donna here to share a scrapbook layout I created using the Letters To Santa collection.

I love the traditional colors red and green in this collection and my niece’s photo is perfect so I used that here.

Let me show how I created this layout, it’s just a few simple steps actually. The part that took time was fussy cutting the images from one of the papers.

First, use the Be Merry paper as the base for the layout. Cut the special die cut paper like so and adhere to the right and left corners as seen in the image. Mat the photo with one of the cards from the Perforated Wishlist paper and add some messy white threads underneath.

Embellish with the fussy cut images from the Christmas Poinsettia paper and pieces from the Letters To Santa Collectables. Use foam tapes to some of the pieces to add dimension. Using the Decorative Die Lantern Scene and Glitter Cardstock in Champagne, cut some leaves and a candle.

Using a brush, splatter white watercolors all over the layout (use a piece of scrap paper or plastic to cover the photo from unwanted splatters). And the layout is done!

Here are some detailed shots of the finished layout

I hope you liked my project today!

Kaisercraft Products:  P2395  Be Merry | PS500 Poinsettia Frame | PS501 Perforated Wishlist | PP1028 Paper Pad | P2388 Christmas Poinsettia | SS347 Sticker Sheet | GC105 Glitter Cardstock – Champagne | DD801 Lantern Scene | CT890 Collectables | T314 Double-sided tape | T321 Acid-free Craft Glue | T302 Foam Tape

Other: White watercolor, Thread

Thanks for dropping by and Happy Crafting!
