Letters To Santa Mabel Sim NEW Product Tutorials

Santa Claus Says Merry Christmas! by Mabel Sim

September 26, 2017

Hi everyone!

I’m Mabel and I’m here to share with you a tutorial with the new Letters to Santa Collection to create a simple Christmas themed frame that is so apt for your Christmas display.

I first start with a 8×8 inches shadow box which I prepped it with an even coat of white gesso. You can also use any white acrylic paint/white opaque paint to replace gesso if you do not own one.

In the meantime, while waiting for the gesso to dry, cut down P2388 Christmas Poinsettia as a base.

I had also fussy cut out my centrepiece for today with P2395 Be Merry. I trimmed out the circle sentiment and mount it on foam tapes to give it some dimension.

Layering is always the key to make your project looks sophisticated. It is actually a very simple technique of arranging your pieces together on different heights. For this time round, I am making use of the rim of the shadowbox to show different layers. I had fussy cut out Mr. Santa from P2389 Dear Santa and stuck it to the bottom corner of my frame.

To balance out the opposite end, I am also adhering pieces from the CT890 Collectables as well as from P2393 Holly & Berries, followed by Christmas streamers from SS347 Sticker Sheet.

Adding pulled cheese cloth will also add some additional interest to the project.

Simply cut down the cheese cloth to tiny bits and tug it gently for the strings to break apart from its usual placement, adhere them to the bottom of your flowers.

Here’s the final look and some close up pictures. :)

Others: Shadow Box, White Gesso, Cheese Cloth

That’s all for my tutorial. Simple ain’t it?

Baby mini-album tutorial by Julia Akinina + Video

November 15, 2016

Hello, dear friends!

Today Julia is here and I’m happy to share with you my video-tutorial. I love to create quick and easy projects, so I think this Baby album is a good idea for quick peesent. It didn’t takes e a lot of time to create it, and I looove the result! It’s lovely cute album with many pockets and lots of details. I hope you’ll be inspired by this baby girl album and my video helps you to create something beautiful!

Kaisercraft Products: PP1008 Paper Pad | SS324 Sticker Sheet – Girl | CT867 Collectables – Girl | FL588 Flourish Pack Baby | CS275 Clear Stamps | DD411 Decorative Die Words – Welcome Little One | DD405 – Clouds | F640 Paper Blooms – Fairy Floss | SB701 Rhinestones – Soft Pink | EM927  Lace Pack – Cream

The dimensions of the album are 12cm x 12 cm for the inner pages, and 12,5cm x 12,5cm for the cover. I used paper only from the 6×6 Paper Pad, so I have all my 12×12 sheets for the other projects. To decorate the pages I used cards from the paper pad, word-stickers from the sticker sheet, collectables pack, and the flourish pack. To create the Title on the cover I glued 3 die cuts, so it became more dimentional.

And here is the video of this cute little Baby mini-album ( first 1:10 of the video) and step-by-step tutorial!

That’s all, I hope you enjoyed it! If you have any questions considered the creative process feel free to ask it in the comment.

Thank you

Beyond The Page October Projects with Alicia

October 28, 2015

Hello Kaisercrafters! Alicia here with you today for my October Post full of lots of Beyond The Page Inspiration!! Kaisercraft is well-renowned for their amazing range of Beyond The Page Project Kits.  Today I am sharing four Beyond the Page Projects showcasing the three gorgeous October Paper Collections.

Firstly, lets get ready for Christmas with the Holly Jolly Collection!

Project One – Chimney Advent Calendar

Chimney Advent Calendar using "Holly Jolly" by Alicia McNamara

I have wanted to make a Kaisercraft Advent Calendar for a couple of years now, so I was super excited when I received the Chimney Advent Calendar in my Design Team Box.  I wanted a bright and colourful Advent Calendar so I saved this project for the Holly Jolly paper collection.  This particular Beyond the Page kit is a big project! It took me  quite a few days to put this together, but then I did take my time because I wanted it to be perfect!

DD721 Decorative Die Advent Box

I used the DD721 Decorative Die Advent box die to cut out all the little box coverings from the 6 1/2 inch Paper Pad.  I covered the boxes and then I used white paint to distress the edges of the front of the boxes.  I added FL440 Heart flourishes and painted these with two coats of white paint and then a coat of Kindy Glitz to make them sparkle.  Once that was dry I took my numbers from the AS251 Ebony Alpha Stickers.  I ended up needing more stickers ( I think it took 3 or 4 pages of stickers to get all the numbers) so I used Alpha stickers from other colours as well.  Then I ended up colouring them all over (the Ebony ones as well) with black marker to make sure they were all matching in colour.  I liked the darker black because it made the numbers stand out better.

After I had all the boxes ready to go I covered the walls of the chimney with papers from the collection, painted the edges and assembled it all together.  Then it was time to decorate!

I painted the TM815 Metal Door Knockers white, but left them a little shabby to add to my white, distressed look.

TM815 Metal Door Knocker

I also painted the edges of the papers on the doors and walls roughly with white paint to match the little drawers.

I added some sprigs of Holly and white lace to the roof and some stickers from the Sticker Sheet.

At the base of the chimney I set up a little Christmas Tree scene with round mat (doily from the Collectables) white Christmas tree and matching presents.  I chose papers from the collection that looked a little like wall paper, the kraft and white stripe for the walls and then some plain red paper for the carpet.  I added red pearls to the tree for baubles and also on the presents.  I added paper to the presents in red, aqua and craft colours.

Then at the top of the chimney I added Santa’s sleigh and two reindeer.

FL573 Flourish Sleigh Scene

I used the FL573 Flourish Sleigh Scene for the reindeer, tree and presents.  I painted them and kindy-glitzed them.  I added some red paper to the back of the sleigh and some red and white twine for the reindeer’s reins.

Here is another view of the Holly and lace.  I love this mesh lace from the EM926 White Lace Pack.

This is a really fun project to make and great to get the kids (and adults) on the countdown to Christmas!  Sometimes we all need a little motivation ; ) Why not get this project completed in November all ready for the start of the Christmas Countdown on December 1st.

Project Two: Christmas Mini Album

Still on the Christmas theme now, but a different Beyond the Page Project – a Christmas Mini Album.  Here I used SB2379 BTP Gift Album to make a chunky album of photographs from last Christmas.  My husband loves to take photographs and when he gets behind the camera he takes LOTS! So I had many photos from this particular part of our Christmas day last year.  It also helped that the kids were in Christmas clothes which meant they matched in with the red colours in the papers! Must remember to get them to wear red again this year on Christmas Day!

Front Cover

I had a lot of fun embellishing this project with lots of chunky embellishments and lots of Kaisercraft Decorative Dies.  The Kaisercraft Dies are amazing for decorating projects quickly and easily and because you can use the coordinating papers and everything matches.  This DD327 Holly Die is perfect for Christmas.  I used it a lot in different colours throughout the album.DD327 Decorative Die Holly

Album Standing Up

The Album happily stands up on its own due to the chunkiness of the pages and embellishments.

I used the CM601 Mistletoe Kisses Captured Moments pack for all the little cards in this album and added some Collectables for extra embellishments.

I used two different Captured Moments Pocket Pages; CM951 Pack 1 (6×8) and CM952 Pack 2 (3x4s) for the pages of my album.

DD506 Decorative Dies Foliage

This Die DD506 Foliage is one of my all-time favourites.  It is a must-have for your collection.  It fills spaces really well and adds detail and class to any project.

Page Five

I glued most of the embellishments to the outside of the Pocket Pages.  This allowed me to add different textured embellishments of varying thicknesses.

Page Six

I had a few of the painted white hearts left over from my Advent Calendar so I added them as embellishments on this project too.  I slipped a snowflake die cut underneath.

Page Seven

I had a play with Templates, Impasto and Kaisermists on the base page for some of my full page layouts.  At the bottom of this page (underneath the word December) you might be able to see the row of presents from the T62612x12 Christmas Strip Template below.

Page Eight

On this page I used T623 12×12 Christmas Quarters Template (the writing in the top left-hand corner) to add some dimension to the layout.  You can see it if you look just under the red Holly die cut.

Inside Back Cover

I added one of the red tags from the Holly Jolly EM427 Tag Pack on this page tied with some red Kaisercraft Organza ribbon.

This album was really fun to make! I had a lovely time putting it all together.  Its a lovely way to record Christmas memories.

Project Three: Butterfly/Fairy Drawers

Now moving on to the beautiful Fairy Dust collection.  The perfect collection for the little girls in your life.  I decided to use the Butterfly Drawers for this project and make a little Christmas Gift for one of my nieces who loves fairies.

Butterfly Drawers using "Fairy Dust" by Alicia McNamara

This project was a nice quick one, it only took me one night from start to finish for this project.  I chose the purples from this collection because I had used a lot of the aquas from the layouts I made previously in the month and I wanted to have a play with the purple colours.

Butterfly Drawers using "Fairy Dust" by Alicia McNamara

I lined the inside of the drawers with paper from the Paper Pad so when you open the drawers you see lovely papers to store your fairy treasures in.  The rest of the sides of the drawers I painted with the purple paint.

Butterfly Drawers using "Fairy Dust" by Alicia McNamara

To decorate each drawer I used DD506 Decorative Dies Foliage again.  Then I layered a butterfly on top and embellished with some SB705 Lilac Rhinestones.  I used DD101 Decorative Dies Lacy Borders to put along the bottom of each drawer.  This die is so pretty and feminine.  Perfect for lots of projects.

I embellished the top of the chest of drawers with some paper blooms, collectables and a doily die cut.  I love the RS465 Island Lagoon Flourishes… they are so pretty!

I was really happy with how this project turned out.  I can’t wait to give it to my niece for Christmas.

Project Four: Gift Frame

Finally now, moving onto my fourth project for this blog post…SB2114 BTP – 6.5″ Frame decorated with the gorgeous Ma Cherie Collection.

6.5" Frame using "Ma Cherie" by Alicia McNamara

This little project was the fastest Beyond the Page project of all of the projects I made this month and would make such a lovely gift for the right person!  A simple coat of paint, some papers and some collectables is all you really need to decorate this project.  (The frame has two holes in the back so it can be hung onto a wall.)

6.5" Frame using "Ma Cherie" by Alicia McNamara

The Ma Cherie collection is full of beautiful butterflies and flowers and it has such a lovely romantic feel to it.  I found these papers really easy to create with.  Everything matches so beautifully and  I especially love the colour tones in this collection.  I painted my frame in KC002 Kaisercolour Antique White and used a quote from P1960 Fine for the middle of the frame.  Then I simply decorated with Collectables, paper blooms and die cuts.  Super easy and quick to make, but very original…you can’t buy a gift like this in the shops : )

That is all from me for the month of October. I hope you have found some inspiration today! Consider decorating a Beyond the Page Project…just perfect for your Christmas preparations…whether it be something for yourself or something to give as a gift on Christmas Day.  Leave me a comment and tell me which project is your favourite!

Happy crafting,

Alicia : )
