Saturday Sketch x 2 for August!

Hello everyone!!

At last we have the blog back up and running!!! Again, we apologise for the delay in the posts, but keep a watch from now on for some inspirational ideas!!

Today though we have 2 Saturday Sketches, to make up for last’s weeks being missed!

Let’s recap on the rules first and then we can get into the good stuff!!

The rules:

Each Saturday every month a new sketch and inspirational layouts will be posted here on the blog.

From these 3-5 sketches (depending on how many Saturday’s there are), you have that many chances to create a layout of your own and upload it to any gallery of your choice, or in a blog post.

Once done, link your layout into the comments section of the appropriate sketch blog post and you’re entry is complete!

Find FULL terms and conditions here.

The deadline:

Comments with linked layout entries for each monthly sketch challenge will close on the last day of that month at 11.59 (Australian Eastern Standard Time UTC +10/Daylight Savings Time UTC +11)

The prize:

1st PLACE: One of Kaisercraft’s new collections (valued at approximately $50).

August’s # 2 Saturday Sketch

And here is our second Sketch for the month of August!! 2 Sketches in one day..what a treat!!

Here is the layout the sketch was based on:

“Discover” Layout By Karen Shady

Materials Used:
Hunt and Gather patterned Paper Collection, Sticker Sheet.
Other: String, hessian, distress ink, paper distresser

August’s #2 Sketch:

And now we have Svetlana and Pearl showing us their take on the sketch:

“Love To Travel” Layout by Pearl Lui

Materials Used:
Hunt & Gather Listen (P705), Sticker Sheet (SS107), Corrugated Cardboard Tags (EM963), Paper Pad (PP848); Rhinestone (RS402); Acrylic Paint in Spearmint (KC044)

Pearl says:
I love this sketch, but I decided to tilt the sketch 90 degrees counter-clockwise to better incorporate the technique and layout I had in mind. To create the frame around the photo, journaling label and corrugated tag cluster, I used a craft knife to cut around the pattern of the paper. I used the wood grain banner sticker that came with the Hunt & Gather sticker sheet – I love it! I added some rhinestones and hearts randomly on the pennants to enhance the wood grain pattern. To give the leafy vine sticker a slightly more turquoise tone and dewy look, I lightly brushed on spearmint acrylic paint around the edges of the leaves and added some clusters of rhinestones to it.

“Just Turned 5” Layout by Svetlana Austin

Materials Used:
Little Toot Collection: Paper – Bang/P687, Cruise/P691, Bumper/P692, Road Trip/PS155; Paper Pad/PP846; Clear Stamps – Date/CS787, Grunge Font/CS784; Foam Tape/T303; Alpha Chipboard – #2/CB108, #3/CB109.
Other: paint spray, craft paint, hand stitching, buttons, wax line, staples, ink, pen, “dimensional magic”.

Svetlana’s Tips:
I did cut the air-balloon and glued it on a piece of chip-board; I did the same with a couple of round die-cuts from the paper pad. Then I lifted all these elements with some foam tape to add dimension to my lay-out. I painted chip-board letters with red and blue craft paint and added some glossy volume to it with some “dimensional magic”. It goes very well with the glossy picture I used for my lay-out.

I hope you all have a great weekend..full of creating layouts from these 2 sketches!!
