Saturday Sketch #1 May

May 5, 2012

Hello fellow Kaisercrafties and welcome to our first Saturday Sketch for the month of May. We hope you all participate in this sketch to be in the draw to win some great prizes!

Let’s have a look at the rules:

The rules: Each Saturday every month a new sketch and inspirational layouts will be posted here on the blog. From these 3-5 sketches (depending on how many Saturday’s there are), you have that many chances to create a layout of your own and upload it to any gallery of your choice, or in a blog post. Once done, link your layout into the comments section of the appropriate sketch blog post and you’re entry is complete! Find FULL terms and conditions here.

The deadline: Comments with linked layout entries for each monthly sketch challenge will close on the last day of that month at 11.59 (Australian Eastern Standard Time UTC +10/Daylight Savings Time UTC +11)

The prize: 1st PLACE: One of Kaisercraft’s new collections (valued at approximately $50). 2nd PLACE: A Kaisercraft scrap pack (including new products) valued at approximately $30.

Here is the layout that our Saturday Sketch is based on:

“#1 May Saturday Sketch”

There are so many ways to interpret this sketch so to help you with inspiration, let’s see what Svetlana Austin and Leanne Love have done.

“The Waves of the Sea” Layout by Svetlana Austin

Materials used: Rock Pool Collection – Seaweed/P834, Waves/P840; Sticker Sheet/SS134; Collectables/CT713; Paper Pad/PP867; Clear Stamps/CS821; Sticker Sheet – Timeless Type/SS143; Rub ons – Script Alpha/RB941; Pearl Flourishes – Classic Chocolate/PL513; Pearls – Bliss/SB718; Rhinestones – Blue Grey/RS406; Pearl Brads – Chocolate/EM935; Ink Pad – Red Gum/IP722.
Other: craft card stock, paint, glimmer mist, mask, stamp, hand-stitching, ink, acetate, twine, dimensional magic.

Svetlana says: “Rock Pool is an amazing collection for all those photo’s taken during many holidays at the sea side. This collection has two sides to it. It is absolutely perfect for fun children’s layouts but then it has more serious side to it too. I opted for creating a kind of philosophical layout about myself.
I mirror flipped the sketch to follow with the direction of my picture. The phrase on the ‘High Tide’ paper inspired the title of my layout, which I made using alpha stickers from the Rock Pool collection Sticker Sheet, rub ons and the new Timeless Type stickers.”

“Family” Layout By Leanne Love

Products used?:
Timeless Collection- Floral (P850), Tickets (P852), Timeless Sticker Sheet (SS143)

Paper Tags (EM925), Magnolia Grove Collectables (CT715)

Other: Twine and Kraft Card stock

I really love this sketch. Just finished two versions of it I love it so much.
I have to say I’m getting quite addicted to these sketches. I almost burnt dinner tonight because I was wanting to finish these. Ooops, I did leave the garlic bread in the oven for three hours though.
Here is one of my finished sketches. I hope you like my take on the sketch.

Love the Dribble Castle…it really is “unquestionably marvelous”. SO wish I could get my hands on some Rock Pool, but I will have to be patient. Great sketch. Will give it a go.
