Creative Card:
Hello everyone! Welcome to the blog this Thursday!
Today we have our Creative Card with Svetlana Austin!
Svetlana says:
“Hello to all craft lovers! Today I want to show how to use trims from the papers for creating an original card.
All of you of course notice that all Kaisercraft papers have trims with some beautiful designs on one side. It is so clever! In this way you don’t need to through away anything!
I always try to use these trims in my projects but I always find that I have a lot of them lying around. So I came up with some ideas on how you can use all those trim offs. I want to share with you today one of the examples of how you can use the trims in your cards.
For this card we will need two types of paper, card-board, a tag, paper trims or off-cuts, some decorations.
I used Mairie paper from Bonjour Collection as the base of my card. I measured a piece of card-board a little bit smaller then my card.
The next step: I cut the trims 2 cm longer than the width of my card-board. I sticked each piece of the trim to the card-board with double-sided tape. I folded the ends of the trims on both sides – it gives a very neat finish. You can stick the trims randomly or you can follow certain pattern – it is up to you.
To unite together all the different designs and colors of the trims, I used some distress ink over it.
Now we have a very unique design which will add some interest and dimension to the card.
I attached my card-board to the base of the card with some glue.
The next step is decorating the card.
I choose a tag which matches the base paper. I sticked it to a piece of dark contrasting paper – I used Madeleine paper for it. Then I cut it in the same shape as the tag leaving a little contrasting frame around it. I attached it to the card with some foam tape.
I used a butterfly from a sticker sheet and some rhinestones to finish off my card. The final touch was a little spray with glimmer mist – it just pulled all the elements of my card together.
I think that you will find a lot of other ways to create some interesting elements from the paper trims to use in your projects.
Happy crafting!
