Celebrating Christmas in July with Beck Beattie

September 5, 2017

Hi everyone, Beck Beattie here today with ‘Tutorial Tuesday’. I can’t wait to share with you a fun technique incorporated into my project today

I wanted to take you through how I created the beautiful but subtle Poinsetta and Holly background on my page today.

Step 1:  Stamp the images from the Christmas Edition stamp set featuring the Poinsetta and Holly leaves onto the backgound using a white ink pad.  I have stamped in the areas that would see the effect peeking out from behind the script pattern paper I chose to go over the top on my page.

Step 2:  Add clear or white Embossing Powder while the ink is still wet.

Step3:  Remove the excess embossing powder and using a heat gun, heat to melt the embossing powder.

Step 4:  Take a distress ink or oxides in a brown tone and gently add colour over the top of all the areas where the embossing is featured.  Work in a circular motion to softly build up the colour.

Step 5:  Using  a dry old towel rub over the embossed areas to remove the ink colour that will be resisted by the embossed images.  This adds a beautiful soft element to the page.

Step 6:  Add droplets of water to activate the ink and then blot off with some paper towel

To finish your layout, add a torn piece of the ‘Snowcapped’ paper as well as some of the collectibles and elements from the sticker sheet.  Enhance these with some florals and pearl strip as pictured as well as your journalling.

Here are some more pictures to help you get up close to all the details.

Here is the full scrapbook page for you to enjoy of a great family time we had when we recently visited Soverign Hill in Ballarat Victoria Australia.  It is a place set back in the gold mining times.  Each year they put on a wonderful Christmas in July celebration.  I just knew this collection would be perfect for my photos captured that day!

Christmas Jewel Design Team DIY Donna Espiritu Kaisercraft Tutorials

Peace, Love, Joy banner by Donna Espiritu

August 21, 2017

Hello! Donna here with my first post as a Kaisercraft Design Team member.

I used the Christmas Jewel collection to create a banner perfect as a Christmas decoration.

While I was thinking of what to make for today’s project, I knew I wanted to include one of the beautiful, glittery Kaisercraft printed tapes. So, I came up with the idea to create a rosette out of it.

I thought of using the patterned papers from the paper pad but since I will cover them anyway, I just used regular copy papers.

I didn’t cover the entire strip of paper. 2 lines of the printed tape was enough.

I also added “tails” to each one using a metallic silver thread. I used foam tapes to some of the pieces to add depth.

Here is a step-by-step tutorial if you like to make one for a holiday decor.

Cogs Wall Art Medal hanger with Beck Beattie

August 4, 2017

Hi Everyone, Beck Beattie here!  I’m so excited to be sharing with you my first project as part of the Kaisercraft Design Team.  WOOT!

For my project today I wanted to create something a little different.  For so long I have adored all the fun wooden Wall Art designs Kaisercraft sell and when I saw the new ‘Cogs‘ one I just fell in love!  I also had a cool idea for it for something I have been wanting to make for my boys’ rooms.

My project today is a Medal holder, as for some time my boys have been finding different places to hang their medals they have acheived but often all on top of each other.   I wanted them to be able to celebrate the hard work they have put in to achieving those medals as they trained hard to get better at their sport and win them.  Having them featured in their room will be a great inspiration for them.  When I saw the large Cogs Wall Art, I knew it would be perfect and a bit of a different way to display them.

The new Factory 42 collection was the perfect match for this project giving it a fun and masculine egde to it working in perfectly with their rooms.

I started out by painting the large Cogs Wall art with brown paint.  I simply used a spray paint for this as it was super quick and gave a nice even coat.  I followed this up by adding some clear embossing ink along with metallic embossing powder in areas where I wanted to feature additional cogs.

I also added some stamping with black ink to the base using the cots stamps from the Mechanical Parts Die and Stamp set.  This really finished off my project.

I wanted to add some inspirational words onto the wall art and chose the words ‘BE YOUR BEST’.  For these words I adhered the Machine pattern paper onto some chipboard and die cut my letters out.  You could use any old chipboard letters you have or even wooden Kaiser ones in the medium size.  You can find them HERE.  Just adhere the paper onto it and then using a craft knife cut off the excess and file the edges for a clean finish.  I also added a little black ink to some of the edges of mine for a edgy look.

I teamed the large inspirational words with some out of the collectables pack.   I added a little cardboard behind the clock and word plate to give them a little extra strength and dimension.

Using the Mini Cogs and Mechanical Decorative Die sets I die cut a number of cogs from the Pipeworks paper.  I just flipped some over to have the different papers featured.  I then teamed them up with lots of cogs out of the Factory 42 Collectables pack layering and adhering as I went.

These Wall Art projects are so much fun!  Given I too have taken up running and achieved my first 10km medal on the weekend I think I might make another one of these for me with some of my favourite colours and some florals added in too for a feminine look!

I hope you enjoyed my project share today!  I would love to hear other ideas for the Cogs Wall Art in the comments.  I’m sure many of you creative souls out there have loads of ideas!

Till next time, happy creating!
