Kaisercraft Friday focus on digital scrapbooking – hybrid cards

Today we’re featuring a bunch of cards made by our talented Creative Team!

First a bunch of cards made by Donna Espiritu’s. The first two are gatefold cards using the Flutterby collection:

Materials:
Kaiser – Flutterby digital kit, Rhinestones (Hot Pink flowers)
Others – photo paper, adhesive

Step by Step instructions on how to make these Flutterby hybrid 4 x 4 inch gatefold cards:

1. In your editing software, choose 2 different patterned papers in the Flutterby digital kit. Copy 4inx4in squares from each digital paper using the Marquee tool. Paste in on a default workspace like A4 or Letter. In my case, I chose A4 coz that’s the size of my photo paper.

2. Edit the other elements’ sizes BASED on your card’s size in real life. I do this by dragging the element in my opened workspace. From there, I resize or leave it as is. Do this with the other elements you want used in your hybrid card.

3. Place all the elements leaving enough space in between, this will make it easier for you to cut out each elements later.

4. Print and cut.

5. For the card base, cut 4inx8in white cardstock. Fold in the following measurements – 2in and 6in (from left or right, doesn’t matter coz it will end up the same way).

6. Adhere one of the 4×4 paper inside the card as seen in the image. And the second one on the front of the card but just on one flap only. Cut the excess paper and paste on the other flap.

7. Design the card with the rest of the cutouts (inside and front) and add rhinestones or even flowers for additional dimension.

Next a cute layout using Rustic Charm:

Materials: Kaisercraft – Rustic charm digital kit, flowers and brad, White blank card and envelope. Others – photo paper, cardstock.

Step by Step instructions: Design Note/Tip:

1. Add twist to simple cut squares by stacking and tilting it in different direction. Like in this card, I tilted one of the squares to create contrast.
2. I also inked the edges so the colors can still pop on each other even if it has the same colors/shades.

Materials: Kaiser – Rustic Charm digital kit, Flowers, Brads, Taupe blank card and envelope. Others – photo paper, cardstock, ink, pen.

Step-by-Step instructions:

1. Try using your own hand-writing for a more personal touch.
2. Doodle borders with a journaling pen.
3. Paper folding or pleating, inking the edges and using foam adhesives can add interest and dimension on a flat card.

Next up Brittney has made another folded card – a trifold card using the Hideaway mega kit.

Focus on Kaisercraft Digital

Today we’re featuring a couple of different  layouts from Kaisercraft’s Digital Creative Team!!

Here’s a layout from Chrissy Sneddon,

“I used a variety of digi kits, including camp stoneybrook, hideaway and loire valley“.

“I like to do this kind of LO regularly, especially if I’m running short of photo inspiration. It’s great as it can leave more room for embellishments, or is simply a fun record to look back on”.

Here’s Chrissy’s steps on how she created the masked effect of the heart in the title:

“I loved using stickers as masks while paper scrapping, so it’s fun to create the same effect when digi scrapping. Here’s the method I use:”

  • I place the object on my LO. Then I create another layer, and use the brush tool to brush over it – here I used a white brush.
  • Then go back to your object layer, and ctrl+click while the mouse is over the thumbnail of the layer (cmd+click on a Mac). This places a dotted line around the object.
  • Now go back to your brush layer and click delete. Finally hide your object layer, this leaves you with a masked effect as with the heart in this LO.

Next up is a gorgeous layout from Sandra,

Here’s what she has to say,

“While I was searching for something new to play with I suddenly thought of the free printables of the new Q3 papercollections. First I wanted to use these on a hybrid project but why print them out? Why not try and create a digital layout with it?

So I played around with the Devonshire printable and combined it with some elements from the Amour digital kit“.

So why not give our free printables a go??
