Hello everyone! It’s Cathy here today, sharing my latest card idea on the Kaisercraft blog. I have selected papers and products from the Romantique Collection for my card and also set myself a challenge. With each release, Kaisercraft produce embossing folders and I decided that I would incorporate embossing into my card design in some way. I also plan to share my design process, with you so that it may assist you in your own cardmaking.
As I have already created a pink card with this collection, I decided that I would make a blue one this time. I start by selecting any papers from the paper pad that I would like to work with and place them in front of me and pair up possible combinations together.
This is the embossing folder folder that coordinates with the Romantique Collection. I decided that I would fussy cut it out and use the frame like a mat.
Once I have my major elements created, I play BEFORE I glue. I was having difficulty with the white elements on the card….should I change the frame to a patterned paper frame?…..the sentiment isn’t working…..I changed the frames position many times but decided that it should remain horizontal. The striped die cut frame, was actually die cut from my base mat! If you are running short on paper and you know that it is going to be covered up, try this tip to save on paper.
To add dimension to my cards, I use a combination of craft glue and mounting foam to adhere my papers and elements to my cards. This helps to showcase the pretty patterned papers and also the beautiful elements that have been selected.
Inking your papers and embellishments with an ink also makes them pop! This can be applied with a sponge dauber or an ink blending tool.

Today I’m sharing a Tutorial on how to make your own DIY Clean and Simple Christmas Cards. These cards are perfect for mass production. They are quick to make, sparkly and can be made in any colour you choose! I filmed a Video Tutorial on how I made these cards so you can see exactly how I put them together.
DIY Clean and Simple Christmas Cards
Kaisercraft Products you will need:
Glitter Card Stock in three colours…
GC109 Emerald, GC107 Golden, GC120 Ruby
DD321 Decorative Die – Merry Christmas
IT021 Mini Designer Template – Flourish Tree
Kaiser Colour Paint in three colours…
KC050 Metallic Gold, KC028 Green, KC009 Red
CD511 Card Pack C6 – White
T321 Acid Free Craft Glue
(You will also need texture paste)
3 Easy Steps to Make the Cards
1. Mix Paint with Textured Paste and smooth over the top of the template and onto the card bases.
Hints: When mixing the paint and texture paste do not use too much paint. You want it to be mostly texture paste with just enough paint to give you the colour you want. If you make the mixture too runny it will seep under the template and ruin your image. Also make sure you clean your template between colours and immediately after use. When you clean it do it very carefully with a baby wipe or paper towel and water. Then pat it dry gently. You don’t want to lift up the delicate swirls in the image which can be easily done if you are too rough with the template.
2. Die Cut the “Merry Christmas” sentiment out of Glitter Card Stock.
3. Adhere the sentiment with glue
Oh my! Is it really that easy? Yes it is!
These cards are very quick to make!
I chose red, green and gold, but you don’t have to stop there. Kaisercraft makes Glitter Card Stock in 20 colours!! Imagine the possibilities!
They are also quite fun to make and you could easily make a bulk set of 20 cards or more.
