Good morning how are you all? Rikki here with my share this month using the stunning new Kaisercraft Collection Anthology….
Today I am sharing with you a layout that was seen in this months Kaisercraft Workshop Magazine, and if you havent seen this months magazine I would recommend it, theres some amazing work from the very, talented Design Team and a feature showing you how to use Anthology’s Shadow Box Die Cut !!!
Layering is an effective and popular way of adding dimension to a project. Today the Design Team have come up with some Tips for Layering that might be helpful to you when adding layers to your creations.

For adding volume to my project I used collectables, fussy cut images and stamped embellishments. I also added sisal to make the composition lighter and airy.
When fussy cutting dont be afraid to layer in shapes, like I have done here in circles with everything coming out from that!!

Layer with a purpose.
For this layout I added layered clusters of flowers just below my photograph to ground the photo.
The layering gives the photo somewhere to sit and also frames the image beautifully.
You can also layer ink colours like I did, using two different shades of pink for interest.
Layer stamping on top of inked backgrounds to add interest.
So there are several ways to add layering to your layouts and cards – but always have a purpose for what you are doing.

A helpful layering tip I have always worked with is not being afraid to cut stickers or collectables in half to layer behind or underneath focal points and to build depth. By doing so you are able to get more from your supplies and make them go further.
Arranging the layers in slightly angled way gives lots of dimension to your work.Add the embellishments/die cuts in different levels to give more depth to your composition, you can also use foam tape for the top most layer.
Are you inspired to think about layering in your own creative projects? What tips could you add for fellow crafters? Please mention them in the comments below. Do you like to make cards? Are you loving the Anthology Collection? Last weekend I taught four classes at the Scrapbook and Paper Craft Expo in Brisbane and my Anthology ~ Set of 10 Cards was my most popular class. So I thought I would make another set of Anthology Cards, but this time I chose to add a bit of Mixed Media into the cards as well.
I do enjoy making sets of ten cards. This allows you to have a big stash of cards ready and on hand for those upcoming birthdays or when you need a quick thank you card etc. The sentiments for each of these cards came from the back of the Paper Pad. There are plenty of sentiments at the back of each Kaisercraft Paper Pad that are perfect for adding to a card.
I filmed a Video Tutorial for this Blog Post and I also have a written Step-By-Step Tutorial with photographs to assist you to re-create these cards. I also have a lot of other tutorials on my You Tube Channel, if you are interested in Videos. The corresponding written tutorials are on my blog. All my projects, videos and tutorials feature Kaisercraft Products.

Instructions to Create a Set of 10 Cards:
How to make a Set of 10 Cards using the Anthology Collection and a few Mixed Media techniques.
Prepare Base Cards by painting on some water colour stripes and then inking the edges with Bark Ink.
Use Templates and a Mixture of Inks (Gum leaf, Vine and Red Gum) to create another layer on the base of each card.
Choose 1 sheet from the 6 1/2 inch Paper Pad. Cut it in half at 3 1/4 inches. Cut each half into 1 1/4 inch strips. This will give you ten strips measuring 3 1/4 x 1 1/4 inches. Ink edges with Bark Ink.
Choose two papers from Paper Pad to use for the Texture Honeycomb Die. Cut five die cuts and then cut each one in half to make ten, one for each card.
Position die cut and paper strip onto each card. Staple to attach.
Choose some stamps and stamp onto card with Bark Ink.
Embellish each card with Collectables, Wooden Flourishes, Sentiments from Paper Pad and yellow sewing thread. Attach with a mixture of foam tape and liquid glue.
Spritz with brown misting spray.
Stamp bird on branch on the inside of each card with Bark Ink.
Stamp bird in glass jar stamp onto matching envelopes.

For my card, I used the Little Buds Embossing Folder EF285.
To add some colour and make the embossing stand out more, I inked the top half of my embossing folder with a grey ink, misted with water
and then embossed the tiny floral paper from the paper pad.
Once dry, the embossed pattern was a lot more visible than on the white background of the paper.
