Caravanning with Hunt & Gather

Afternoon girls,

Today I’m here to share with you my caravan mini album using the new range Hunt & Gather.

The browns and greens in this range work perfectly with snaps of the country side in the north of Western Australia.

The caravan mini album that is being released with this range, worked perfectly with some leftover photos of our holiday to Carnarvon in 2009, so I decided to have some fun with it.

I painted the album black, then to give it the distressed, faded look, I swiped white ink over it, then wiped it off with a tissue while it was still wet. I used a piece of acrylic in the door and window with the title, then swiped white paint behind it to give it a frosted look.

The new sparklets worked great as a hubcap for the tyre. Add in the new Branch wooden flourish as a tree and the new mini blooms in terracotta and it’s a perfect look for Carnarvon with its river gums and red dirt.

To get a 3 dimensional butterfly, I used the rubon onto a light piece of acrylic, then cut around it and folded it in half.

I left the door in the second page open to peek through to the photo on the next page and give it some dimension. I’ve disressed one of the Printed Chipboard pieces to in keeping with the theme.

Adding text with rubons to the blank chipboard pieces is a great way of making up your own signs and adding a pocket to hold a tag provides a place for some simple journalling. Adding in the occasional rubon to a page also adds interest.

The little alphabet stickers are a great way of adding a long title, or even journalling. I’ve added fun captions to the photos to keep the fun theme alive. The tags and diecuts can also be used as mats for the photos.

I cut each page out slightly smaller than the actual MDF page, then distressed and inked each page before gluing it down. This helps to hide any uneveness in the edges. You can tear and roll the edges in to make it a perfect fit. I also used an awl to poke the holes through for the hinged rings, then trimmed them with a sharp knife. I found it easier than using a punch.
