Beyond the Page Card Making Mini Album

Beyond the page and a last good bye from Kirsten Hyde

July 17, 2017

I have had two amazing years as a designer for Kaisercraft. It is time for a change for me, and therefore this will be my last blogpost for Kaisercraft. This time I am showing two projects with this months collections, The Golden Grove collection and Lilac Whisper. I have often loved creating different kind of projects, but most of all – I love creating beyond the page projects.

Golden Grove Collection

The first project is a mini album with a card with the Golden Grove collection. This is a simply decorated gift album. Fantastic as a present, for someone to add their own photos. The mini album has been made fro scratch. You can find the tutorial for the minialbum here.

The front of the album has a pocket with room for a card.

All the sides of the album has side flaps. The pages are simply decorated with panels from the different papers.

Lilac Whisper collection

The Lilac whisper collection is a soft and sweet collection. A few weeks ago, I created this dress and featured it in my blog. I thought I wanted to share it here too.  I have always loved making dresses out of paper. The doll here is a barbie doll, and the dress has been created shaping and folding each ruffle seperatly when I created the pattern.

Every picture has a story to tell – layout tutorial by Kirsten Hyde

June 13, 2017

Hi everyone. Today I am showing you a video tutorial on a layout with the super sweet Keepsake Collection. This a simple layout with a picture taken at the end of the world. This photo is from the Remarkable Rocks at Kangeroo Island, Where I am looking out over the ocean towards Antartica.  This is one of Australias many amazing places.

I started, creating some pattern on white cardstock. I used a cogs stencil – Grunge Designer Template and a red ink pad.

Then I added strips of paper , acetate film strips and wooden embellishments in layers. Diecuts with the circular vine and cogs were added together with the flowers from the collectables.

Acetate were added above the phot, to add a frame and thext “The story begins here”.

3D foam tape has been used between the layers to add dimensions.

Beautiful – a chabby chic layout by Kirsten Hyde

May 8, 2017

Hi everyone.

Today, I’m showing a chabby chic layout with the wonderful and sweet Sage and Grace collection.

The image is the view over London from the top of London Eye.

I have added some texture to the background, using one of Kaisercraft’s stencils and gesso.  Strips of paper, lace and cheese cloth, has been added to the background. Flowers has been added under and between the layers.

The pink diecut behind the photo, and the pjoto has been added, using 3D foam tape.

Butterflies and sentiments has been added. I also added some of the left over die cuts from pink paper under the photo.  I used a background text stamp, to create some effects on the background. The layout got a light mist of white Kaisermist spray in the end.

Mixed media bird house, with Kirsten Hyde

April 10, 2017

We have spring here in Norway at the moment, and this time I wanted to create a spring project with the High Tea collection. This is an altered wooden house and a candle stick, I had stored for some time. I have used the blue and white papers from the collection, together with collectables and wooden embellishments.

The bird house, has been covered with paper, and then decorated.

I used a stencil with gesso, to create some texture on the roof. Then I added strips of paper and collectables.

At the front of the house, I have added parts of a wooden embellishment, and layered it with a lace circle from the collectables. The candle stick has got a slight colour wash with light blue chalk paint.

Part of the paper has a “ripped wallpaper effect”. I enhanced this effect, with pieces of torn paper.

Storage Storage

Small paper pad storage tutorial, by Kirsten Hyde

March 26, 2017

After crafting for some time, I have collected quite a lot of small paper pads. These has been stacked in my book case for some time, thinking that I really wanted to organise them in another way. The inspiration for the storage boxes came from a close friend of mine Anne Elisabeth Rostad. I wanted a divider in the middle of the boxes to stop the paper pads from slipping, as I remove some of the paper pads from the box.

The box has been covered with wooden papers from the Pawfect collection and simply decorated.

Creating the storage box

Cut out the pieces as indicated below, from card board. Also cut a rectangular piece 18cm x 11cm to create the the middle seperator.

Glue the pieces together as indicated, using thick gaffa tape.

Add the center piece.

Cover the box with paper and add feet and decorate it as you wish.
