“Happy Banners 30th” Card by Pearl Lui

Materials Used: Kaisercraft On The Move Cylinders; Other: sewing machine, scoring tool, circle punch

Pearl says:
“One of my favorite things about the On The Move collection is how it has these retro designs to it. To make these almost 60′s looking banners, I just cut triangles out of the On The Move Cylinders pattern paper, using both front and back. They were then sewn onto the card. This is a simplistic retro/mod card perfect for one of my 60′s fanatic friends turning 30 very soon!”

And I also made a traditional style card with the Sweet Nothings Collection using mainly the Collectables to embellish the card.”

“Floating Hearts” Card by Pearl Lui

Materials Used: Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings Dozen Roses, Sweet Nothings Devoted, Sweet Nothings Sincerely; Other: sewing machine, scoring tool, heart punch

Pearl says:
“Hearts just make me happy. So when I created this card, it was all about happy floaty dimensional hearts to compliment the romantic designs. To create this card, I very simply punched hearts, scored them, and secured them to cardstock with some stitching. This is a quick and simple card to make but it is also timeless, just like the Sweet Nothings collection.”

Tuesday Tip: Make Your Own Photo Booth & Props

Welcome to our last Tuesday Tip for a couple of weeks. As Kaisercraft Head office closes for a couple of weeks, we won’t be blogging Tuesday tips from the 27th of December 2011- the 10th of Janaury 2012. Other posts will still continue!
So to go out of 2011 with a bang..we thought we would use Pearl Lui’s fun tip for you today…enjoy!

”Photo Booth & Props” by Pearl Lui

Materials Used: Kaisercraft On The Move; Other: skewers, glue dots

Pearl Says:

“Photo booth-style photos, mustache props, and bow-tie props are all the rage these days. But guess what? You don’t need to go to a photo booth to get that style in your scrapbook pages. Today I’ll be sharing two tips in one! And I bet you will have so much fun giving this a try!”

Make Your Own Mustache & Bow-tie Props:

You’ll need:

  • colorful pattern paper
  • skewers
  • glue dots
  • scoring tool
  • a good doodling hand
  • pencil + eraser
  • scissors or craft knife

How-to:

  1. Score and fold your pattern paper in half
  2. Following a similar doodling pattern as the above, use a pencil to draw the shapes right next to the fold
  3. Cut the shapes and unfold the paper to get a perfectly symmetrical mustache or bow-tie
  4. Stick to skewers with glue dots

Make Your Own Photobooth:

You’ll need:

  • camera with timer + flash + tripod
  • a clean background
  • don’t forget your props!
  • photo/image editing software

How-to:

  1. Set up your camera, timer, flash, and tripod to face about 4 feet away from your blank wall
  2. Click your timer and any continuous snap features you may have
  3. Stand in front of your blank wall and let the camera snap you in funny poses
  4. Once you have your photos, just create a stacked strip of images using any editing software

Pearl Says:
“Now go on, have fun and be silly!

P.S. With holiday parties and new year’s parties coming up, you might even want to set this up for your friends to try with you at any events you might be posting this festive season! Enjoy!”

Kaisercraft Products:  On The Move Collection, 12” Sticker Sheet, Die Cuts, Specialty Die Cut-PS186 Fuel
OTHER: Tim Holtz Distress Ink-Vintage Photo, Tim Holtz Alphabet Sizzix Die-Chip Block

Cassandra Says:
“When I first saw the New On The Move Collection from Kaisercraft I was in heaven! My husband is the proud owner of a 1932 Ford Roadster Hot Rod, I just knew these papers and some of the Collectables Die Cuts would be perfect for a layout featuring our favourite ride. And I really found the 12×12 Sticker Sheet was fantastic in this Collection as well! It is always good to have some fun scrapbooking goodies for those layouts with the boys and their toys :o )”

“Custom” Layout by Leanne Love

Kaisercraft On the Move: Accelerate (P773) Propel (P773), Paper pad (PP859), Collectables (CT704), Ink

Leanne Says:
“I just love how this paper can be so grunged up, perfect for all those masculine pages that you have been planning to do.  I do like how this layout has come together .  The photo was taken many years ago of my little boy and his grandfather.  They love riding around on “Pa’s” Harley.”

“Lindberg” Layout by Genevieve Allen

Genevieve says: “The “retro” colours of this collection inspired me. I had this postal card of Lindberg when he came on the Plaine d’Abraham at Quebec city in 1928! The sepia colour of this card goes very well with these papers. I have only to  work with the aircraft subject… very easy with this collection!”

Materials used: On the Move collection, Paper (P772, P773,P774); Paper Pad (PP859); Sticker sheet (SS122);  Collectables (CT704); Jewels (RS421); Clear stamps (CS802,807). Others: Bazill Kraft, Punch, die, China ink.

“Taking Flight” Layout by Pearl Lui

Materials Used: Kaisercraft On The Move Take Off, On The Move Propel, On The Move Accelerate, Mini Alpha Black & White Stickers; Other: marker, sewing machine

Pearl says:
“On The Move is a collection absolutely perfect to show manly or boyish themes. However, I thought I’d show it in a slightly different light. Playing off of its transportation patterns, I decided to create a layout about flying and excitement of traveling. I wanted to keep it a bit kitschy with the checker squares, checker pennants, and doodling of airplane windows. The windows were cut out using a craft knife, the doodles were drawn freehand, and the banner was sewn on.”

“Moments Like This” Layout by Pearl Lui

Materials Used: Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings Dozen Roses, Sweet Nothings Devoted, Sweet Nothings Sincerely;
Other: sewing machine, craft knife

Pearl says, “Sweet Nothings is right up there as one of my favorite releases. It’s so sweet, romantic, and lovely! It’s just as lovely as a photo I snapped of my goddaughter and good friend on her wedding day. The light just hit my camera in the right way to pick up the beautiful bride’s silhouette and dress as she skipped with her flower girl. Such a sweet picture deserved a sweet collection! To create this layout, I used a craft knife to cut parts of the flower at the lower left corner. I also cut our the bird and added it with foam tape to make it more dimensional. Lastly, I hand-wrote the title to complete the layout.”
