Michelle Says:
I have used a glimmermist and sprayed over twine, I’ve then removed the twine and waited for the base cardstock to dry before assembling my layout. I’ve reused my orange glimmermisted twine as an embellishment on my layout. I love to recycle and couldn’t not use the orange mesh from an onion bag that was sitting in my pantry. I’ve also grabbed some toothpicks from the kitchen cupboard and made some little toothpick flags.
Thank you Max for letting me use your photo on this layout from your recent kindergarten trip!

I had been sitting on these photos for a little while as I never found the perfect papers to do the photos justice – until Kaisercraft released the “Hunt and Gather” collection this month.
I have only focused on the fish for my story but the whole ‘Hunt and Gather’ collection has not only fishing related images but also birds, insects and camping – so it will have many of your outdoor adventures covered!”

Tuesday Tip: Scrapping With Scraps!

Hello everyone, thanks for coming over to the Kaisercraft Blog.
Today we have Ann-Katrin Toresen from our 2011 Contributing Design Team showing us how to use all those bit’s and pieces left over from your scrapping projects. The tip is environmentally friendly and looks great too!! Enjoy!
Ann-Katrin says:
“Here in Norway we often talk about using all the paper left over from scrapping projects.”

Materials Used:
Hunt & Gather paper pad PP848 scraps and sticker sheet SS107
“I save everything when I have been working on my projects. If I have big strips I use them for cards, but what to do with the small pieces of paper? Well, you can use them for small cards or table cards like I did!”

“Hunt & Gather is perfect for a boys party or how about thanks giving with a nature theme. You can also use table cards with small sentences to decorate your party table.”

“I also love to tear the ends on the strips to add more dimension to the projects. Thanks for looking and I hope you have been inspired.”

“A Day At The Dunes” By Lori Leng

“Long Road Home” By Toni Crane

Materials Used:
Hunt and Gather Fossick (P700), Forage (P704), Trek (P703), Search (P706), Hunt & Gather Corrugated Tags (EM963), Mini Paper Blooms Terracotta (F652), Wood Flourish Vine (FL328), Alpha Chipboard (CB107).
Other products: card stock, muslin, ink, dimensional magic.
Toni Says:
“The colours of the Hunt and Gather paper range work well with photos of the Australian countryside, whether camping photos or just photos of the road home.
For this layout I extended the large vertical photo with the reverse of Fossick bringing out the colours in the road and the sky, and matched the trees on the left side of the photo with the vine flourish.
The corrugated tag and muslin adds a rustic look and texture, along with the distressing on the pattern paper. Journaling is always important, and I’ve added mine on a tag hidden behind the photo, so as not to distract from the large photo.”

“Wonderful Day” By Svetlana Austin
Materials Used:
Hunt & Gather Collection: Paper – Watch/P701, Search/P706; Paper Pad/PP848; Sticker Sheet/SS107; Rub-ons/RB933; Jewels/RS421; Wooden Flourishes – Trees/FL359; Clear Stamps – Vintage Script/CS782; Timeless Paper Pad/PP854; Foam Tape/T303.
Other: wooden button, brads, glimmer mist, hand stitching, ink, hessian.
Svetlana Says:
“As a family we love going for picnics to the forest, or fishing, or camping, or anything our beautiful nature can offer us. So you can imagine that we have a lot of pictures from our many outings. Needless to say how excited I was to get my hands on this collection!
Tips: I placed the stickers with birds on some thick card-board, then cut it out and sticked it to my lay-out with some foam tape. I used the scrabble page from Timeless paper pad to spell part of my title.”

“Explore” By Janna Werner

Materials Used:
Hunt & Gather Collection: Watch (P701), Search (P706), 6 ½ Paper Pad (PP848), Rub Ons (RB933), Sticker Sheet (SS107), Document (PS158), Printed Chipboard (CB131), Corrugated Card Tags (EM963), Jewels (RS421), Clear Stamps (CS788); Mounting Foam (T302)

Janna Says:
“Hunt & Gather is a rather masculine collection. But this doesn´t mean you couldn´t use it for any feminine layout! It is perfect for black and white or sepia photos, that most cameras are able to take these days. If your digital camera is a bit older you can use any free photo program on the internet to change the colour of your pictures.
The quotes on my layouts are from Hunt & Gather´s “Search” patterned paper, I loved them so much that I wrote them on my layout. Adhering the elements in an uneven way and even tearing some of the papers lets your layout appear softer and more easy.”

Materials Used:

Cassandra Says:
“So often it is hard to find papers and embellishments for those fun camping, fishing and adventure photo’s taken with your family, so when I saw the new Hunt and Gather collection I was thrilled! Not only are brown and greens my favourite colours, but the patterns, gloss varnished papers and embellishments from this collection make creating a breeze.
I have created a layout featuring a picture of my friend Julie. She goes fishing quite often and even catches the odd fish! I printed the photo in sepia tone as it looks fabulous with the colours in the Hunt and Gather papers. I’ve even created my own little version of a fishing rod by getting a twig from my garden and tying some jute in a knot at the end and hanging one of the fish from the Hunt & Gather sticker sheet onto it. I hope this layout inspires you all to have a go at scrapbooking those great fishing and camping pics.”

The “perforated swap cards” are integrated through the mini-album and the stickers through the page. In this album, we can read…..”In May, we can see the flower of chicoutai” and “In July, we can taste a dessert with a chicoutai sauce”

“Box Of Souvenirs” By Genevieve Allen
Materials Used:
Hunt and Gather Papers: Forage (P704), Listen (P705), Trek (P703), Search (P706); Document (PS158); Paper pads (PP848); Sticker sheet (SS107); Corrugated Card Tags (EM963); Rub-ons (RB933); Printed chipboard (CB131); Wooden Flourishes – Locks and Hinges (FL330); Clear stamps (CS788); Jewels (RS421); Extras: Shrink plastic, colour pencils, dictionary papers, Mod Podge, Distress ink, Distress Stain, Alcohol ink, Liquid Pearls, large dragonfly and binoculars.
Genevieve Says:
“Here is an old box of cigars, that I have made into a box of souvenirs!
This box allows me to keep pictures and collectables that I picked up on a holiday at SEPAQ Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie.
To give the distressed look, I like to use “Mod Podge” and then make an outline with Distress ink.
Inside the box you will find: A small album 4 x 4 binded with “Bind-it-all” and embellished with “scrap of paper”, stickles, etc. ..which is a beautiful place to write some notes and keeps the better pictures.
The “Corrugated card tags” binded by a small chain makes a small album to write some anecdotes of fishing!
A picture 4 x 6 leaned back against paper P706 makes a great postcard!
And then to finish it off I used a few embellishments and there is a box of souvenirs!”

“I am sooooo excited to share my Beyond The Page project with you all! My project features the New 25 Drawer Treasure Chest, which is not available until September (not long now) and of course the beloved Hunt & Gather Collection!
These Hunt & Gather drawers are full of Memorabilia, Treasures, Keepsakes and Findings! As you can see I have decorated a few of the drawers and made them into mini shadow boxes with birds nests, eggs and off course gorgeous birds, which can be found on the Hunt & Gather Sticker Sheet.
As you can see in the picture above I have crackle painted the exterior of the 25 Drawer Treasure Chest. I love the effect of crackle paint and it just seemed fitting for this project. I have used Kaisercraft Acrylic Paint Raw Umber (KC032) as the base, Kaisercraft Crackle Medium and then the top layer is Olive Acrylic Paint (KC046). I have also added some Kaisercraft Wooden Flourishes to the sides of the treasure chest but have left them raw for a more natural look. “

“Ahoha Photo Display” By Pearl Lui

Materials Used:
Beyond the Page 6 Frame Photo Display; Hunt & Gather Paper Pad (PP848); Acrylic Paint in Magenta (KC011); Mini Alpha Stickers in Cream (MA505); Pearls (PL506)
Pearl Says:
“The Hunt & Gather collection is perfect for highlighting the beauty of the great outdoors. I used the 6 Frame photo Display to house some of my favorite photos of the Hawaiian skies.
I painted the frame in magenta to play off of the purple and pink tones in the photos. I love how the distressed mustard and dark greens compliment the purple and grey pink skies so well. To embellish the frame, I added various die-cuts from the back of the Hunt & Gather paper pad – love this about the paper pad! I added pearls to create a frame around one of the photos. To create the title, I painted chipboard letters in magenta and layered them on top of a border die-cut from the back of the paper pad. And just like that, I have a vacation keepsake that will bring some sense of serenity during the busy and hurried work week as I pass by it on my book shelf everyday.”

“Momentos Journal” By Janna Werner

Materials Used:
Hunt & Gather Collection: Watch (P701), Search (P706), Listen (P705), Find (P702), 6 ½ Paper Pad (PP848), Rub Ons (RB933), Sticker Sheet (SS107), Document (PS158), Printed Chipboard (CB131), Corrugated Card Tags (EM963), Jewels (RS421); Lace Pack (EM927)

Jenna Says:
“These kind of journals are very easy to create. Get all your favourite papers and embellishments together and start cutting the paper to the size you wish your journal to be in the end. For this journal I folded my paper pieces in the middle, added some smaller pieces and white paper (for writing in the journal) as well. Pierce three holes into the middle of your papers and tie them with a thread (or use any other binding method you like). For a rather shabby look, distress the edges by using sandpaper. Then start decorating the in and outside – et voilá!”

“25 Drawer Treasure Chest” By Svetlana Austin
Materials Used:
Hunt & Gather Collection: Paper ˆ Listen/P705, Search/P706, Collect/PS157, Document/PS158; Paper Pad/PP848; Sticker Sheet/SS 107; Clear Stamps/CS788; Timeless Rub ons ˆ Treasures/RB945; Clear Stamp ˆ Music Sheet/CS757; 25 Drawer Treasure Chest/SB2135.
Other: craft paint, crackle paint, modge podge, ink, stamp, rub on, craft glue.
Svetlana Says:
“I made this beautiful yet practical chest of drawers as a gift for myself! For a long time I wanted something beautiful in my scrap-room to keep all little bits and pieces, as my plastic chest of drawers was clearly spoiling the picture. Eco-themed Hunt & Gather Collection is exactly what I needed for my space. Dark brown paint and some distressing added to the chest vintage feeling.
Some of the drawers I simply decorated with beautiful embossed Collect paper, which futures a collection of insects (to the big joy of my youngest son!). Other drawers are decorated with mini-collages.
I wanted it to be a practical thing, and for this purpose I covered the top and the sides of the chest with a couple of layers of modge podge.”

“We are lucky enough to live about three hours from our favorite summer vacation destination – Myrtle Beach, SC! My husband, two sons and I have vacationed there every year for the past 16 years!
One of my favorite things to do while the guys are golfing is to sit on the beach with a tall, cold drink and a good book! When I take a break from reading, I love to ‘hunt’ for and ‘gather’ pretty seashells!
All of the seashells on this frame are found treasures from the South Carolina shoreline – summer 2011!
I love how this little seascape turned out! I pained the Wooden Flourish Branch with green paint and turned it sideways to look like seaweed! The little fish are swimming around among the coral and they are popped up for dimension! My sons just love the ocean and have such great fun splish-splashing in the waves!
Thanks for peeking in today!”

I have a niece who is having a baby very soon and their family are mad into fishing.
Struggling with what to get her for her baby shower I created this little name plaque using Kaisercraft’s pennants. I used the “Hunt and Gather papers” to make the name plaque a little boyish and a little fishy.
The back of the Embellishment Pack – Tags were used as the base for the name.
Hopefully little Blake will like it when we all get to meet him.
