It’s beginning to feel alot like Christmas!
How quickly Christmas has seemed to arrive this year. I am still trying to work through previous years Christmas photos and looking at the English Rose papers I started to wonder whether I could use them to create Christmas projects.
The colours in the range are actually very similar to traditional Christmas colours, so it was alot easier than I thought to create a Christmas layout with them.
I have added plenty of distressing by using both my edge distresser and my new favourite Kaisercraft ink, Sepia.
The holly chipboard from the Tis the Season range co-ordinated perfectly. I have added lots of sparkle, both on my stars and on the holly.
Aren’t the chipboard flourish trees just gorgeous? I have used diecuts to make my tree base.

While I was still in the Christmas mood I created a couple of cards. I was given some sweet paper tole Christmas images from my Nana a while ago and they suited the English Rose papers perfectly. There was lots of handcutting and layering involved so I have kept the cards very simple so that the focus stays on the pictures.

Make a scene at the Seaside
Hi there. It is Vicki here to share with you a selection of cards I have made using the Seaside collection.
I can honestly say that I am not much of a card maker, as I have not often ventured down that path, and when I have, I have often struggled with the lack of space!
However life is all about challenges. With that in mind, and that fact that I would like to have a stash of neutral cards on hand – the challenge was set!
The challenge was made easier once I saw the Seaside collection. It is just full of cute little beach embellishments so I used these to “make a scene” and make some cards.

The little printed chipboard houses formed the base of the set of cards and a scene was made around these.

I now have a few little cards in my stash which I can alter quickly to suit any occassion.

Round and round
Kerryn says: “Sometimes I get the urge to step away from a standard layout shape and size. When I get the urge, one of my favourite shapes to use is a circle. It is an easy shape to create and we have readily available templates in our kitchen cupboards. Round dinner plates are the perfect size”.
“I have cut two circles from co-ordinating paper, trimming one layer slightly so that you can see the darker paper peeking through. Strips of punched paper were used to add a decorative border to the base.
As with Kirsty’s layout last week, I swiped the Vera specialty paper with sepia ink to highlight that gorgeous pattern.”
“I have added layers of rubons, chipboard and paper flourishes to add dimension to my page.”

Hi there. It is Vicki here sharing my view of the Seaside Collection with you.
Like Kerryn, I often find it a great challenge to step outside the square and incorporate a circle into a layout.
For this layout I have chosen the mustard and teal combination. I have then cut out the flowers from the Summer Days paper to layer around photo.
Take note that I have also used the uncoloured flowers from the packaging as the base for the title – so make sure you are checking both sides of your Kaisercraft packaging before you send it off to the rubbish bin!

A little handbag of journaling
Hi there. It is Vicki here to share the contents of my little handbag.

I like writing the story behind the layout but often there are just so many words and not enough paper!
A solution for this layout was to make a little handbag for my princess which would hide the journaling.
The handbag was so simple to make using Kaisercraft’s Journal tags. I chose 3 matching journal tags for this and folded them in half. I then secured them with a couple of eyelets in the top.

Depending on the amount of journaling you want to put in your handbag, you can use double sided tape to join pages together so some pages will be showing the pattern of the journal tag.
I printed my journaling out and adhered them inside the bag using double sided tape.

Add a chain for the handle and of course some pearls – and my little princess now has a handbag telling her the story behind the photo.

And before you go – make sure you take a close look at the layout as you will see that I have also used the packaging from the English Rose collection as the border for the photo.
So the tip for today is - make sure you take a look at the packaging before you throw it away as I found these little grey flowers were just too cute for the rubbish bin.

Tuesday Tip – Fabric Tags
By Kerryn Lawson
By now you would have seen the new fabric tags that Kaisercraft released with their Seaside collection. They add a wonderful texture to your project. But what do you do when you run out of tags or don’t have one to suit your project? Well you make your own of course!

Seaside Collection Canvas Tags (EM942)
You only need a small amount of material (look through the offcuts in fabric stores) just make sure it doesn’t have too many lumps and bumps.
Make use of what you have to use as templates for your tag. A small amount of double sided tape keeps the fabric in place while you cut around it but is able to be removed easily without any damage to the tag or fabric.

Just like the Kaisercraft tags, don’t forget to add an eyelet to yours.

The Kaisercraft rubons work perfectly on the fabric. Pick your sentiment or picture and add them to your tag. You can even ink the edges too! The possibilities really are endless.
I have only recently purchased a diecutting machine. I have asked myself many times why did it take me so long? LOL. Well, did you know they cut fabric perfectly too? Just be aware that you may need to add a piece of paper to your “sandwich” to help with the cutting of the fabric. It really depends on how thick your fabric is (I used calico and I needed to).
I cut a scalloped circle from the fabric with my diecutting machine. I added a couple of rubons before doodling around the scalloped edge. Voila, a custom fabric tag to add that little touch of texture to my card.

Products used: After 5 6×6 Paper pad (PP833), English Rose black rubons (RB887), Paper flowers – snow (F601), Organza Ribbon – natural (RI613), Pearls – pearl (SB713), Pearl flourishes – Classic pearl (PL511), Seaside colour rubons (RB886), Ink – Sepia (IP709).
Other Products used: Diecutting machine, fabric (calico), eyelet, punch.
