Tuesday Tip – Christmas Tree project

Christmas Tree Project by Trudi Harrison

Materials Used:  Kaisercraft Pen Caddy, English Rose Collection Estelle (P598), Lillian (P599), Frieda (P600), Pearl (P601), Wooden Flourish – Star, Grosgrain Ribbon – Little Girls (RI602), Organza Ribbon – Pink, Pistacchio Paint.  Other: Embossing Folder, length of dowel, Hot Glue Gun, Flower, Birdie.

With Christmas fast approaching, I have created this little potted Christmas Tree to give to someone special.  The new Kaisercraft English Rose collection is absolutely gorgeous and perfect colours for my special person who prefers the non traditional Christmas colours.

Materials Required:

(To create a tree approx 30 cm high (approximately 41 cm high after adding container and star embellishment)).

1” x 12” strips of double sided patterned paper – approx 9 strips depending on the size you create.   I have used English Rose Estelle (P598), Frieda (P600), Pearl (P601) and Lillian (P599) for variety.

Length of Dowell – approx 40 cm in length

Container – I have used a Kaisercraft Pen Caddy

Paint

Pencil or similar for rolling

Plaster of Paris or similar

Decorations for Embellishing – I have used Kaisercraft Ribbon Grosgrain and Organza, Star Wooden Flourish, bird, flower

Hot Glue Gun

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

STEP 1:

Paint outer rim of the container.  Mix up Plaster of Paris to manufacturer’s specifications and pour into the container.  Place length of dowel in the middle and allow it to set hard.

STEP 2:

Cut up the patterned paper into strips measuring 1” x 12” long.  Cut the 12” lengths into 4” lengths; that is you should get 3 x 4” strips from one 1” x 12” lenth.

Roll the lengths around your pencil.

STEP 3

Attach the paper rolls starting at the bottom and working our way upwards.  I have used a hot glue gun for this process.

STEP 4:

To give the tree the extra width at the bottom, attach some additional loops underneath the previously attached loops.  Work your way around until it looks balanced and you are happy with the look

STEP 5:

Cover the container with patterned paper and decorate – I covered mine with English Rose Lillian and then tied a simple bow around mine

STEP 6:

Attach a Kaisercraft Wooden Flourish Star to the top.  Add bows and flower

Add birdie or other embellishments for decoration.

And the finished tree:

Merry Christmas!!

Gorgeous Roses

Hi Everyone!

LG, Lesley and Trudi here and we have been creating with the absolutely utterly gorgeous, new English Rose Collection.

This collection has it all!

Beautiful double sided papers, specialty die cut and flocked papers, and of course the fantastic coordinating embellishments- Paper Pad, Die Cuts, Clear Stamps, Chipboard, Rub-ons and Journal Tags.

Trudi says:  Many words come to mind when describing this collection;  it truly is divine.  The soft femine colours, swirls and flourishes and of course those gorgeous roses, inspired me to create a pretty layout about one of my greatest loves and joys.

Layout ‘Love’ by Trudi Harrison.  Materials Used: English Rose Collection Vera Specialty Paper – Flocking (PS130), Florence (P596), Lillian (P599), Frieda (P600), Pearl (P601), Charlotte (P602), Paper Pad (PP835), Rub-ons (RB888), Die Cuts (DC331), Journal Tags (JT611), Glue Dots, Foam Tape.  Other: Butterfly Punch, Circle Border Punch, Ink, Flower

I have used the beautiful ‘Vera Specialty Flocked’ paper for my base and for someone like myself who loves hand cutting elements, the patterned papers are wonderful for this.  I first cut the corner rose and flourish element from the ‘Lillian’ patterned paper and attached this so that it sat vertically underneath my photos.  Roses have also been cut from the ‘Florence’ paper and the smaller ones as seen on the butterflies have been cut from one of the papers in the Paper Pad.   The pink lace border has also been cut from the same paper.

Floral images have been layered and attached; some with foam tape to add dimension.  My title has been created by cutting the word ‘love’  from ‘Charlotte’ patterned paper.

****************************************

LG says:I totally agree with Trudi, this collection is divine. Every bit and piece of this collection is gorgeous. I highly recommend you get the entire collection. This line is definitely a must have!

On this layout, the English Rose collection was a perfect match to the photo I have used. This is a photo of my daughter with my mom. Aside from the given that I have scrapped a female photo with this feminine line, my mom’s name is “Rose.”

“Rose” by LG Belarmino – Kaisercraft English Rose Collection: Vera- Specialty Paper- Flocking (PS130), Florence patterned paper (P596), Pearl patterned paper (P601), Clear Stamps (CS768), Rub-ons (RB888), Paper pad (PP835), and Printed Chipboard (CB119). Kaisercraft embellishments: Wood flourishes bird cages (FL302), Chipboard Alphabet (CB109), Pearl flourishes Elegant – Pearl (PL507), and Lace – cream (EM927).

Others: corrugated board, paint and flowers

I had so much fun with the clear stamps that came with this collection. I initially stamped the rose image using a black ink and painted the image using Shimmerz paints.

Lesley: Trudi and LG have taken the words out of my mouth. This collection is truely GORGEOUS. I almost used the same background paper as Trudi and LG. It has the most wonderful flocked texture which just begs to be touched and admired. I ended up using one of the double sided patterned paper for my layout which set off my photo perfectly. I love all the coordinating embellishments and can’t resist using little bits of everything! I also used one of the new clear stamp sayings which was the perfect touch for my journaling.

“A” by Lesley Cooper – Kaisercraft English Rose Collection: Patterned Paper Thelma (P597), Pearl (P601); Paper Pad (PP835); Rub ons (RB888); Die Cut Elements (DC331); Printed Chipboard (CB119); Mini Clear Stamps Live Life (CS930)
