Creative Cards – Housewarming/Welcome Home cards

Rather than featuring a NEW Tuesday Tip every week, we’ll be swapping it for a ‘Creative Card’ feature every second week for all you avid card makers out there!
To check out our first Creative Card feature, head here.
This first card is by Monika Martinson:
Items used: Paper Pad Homemade Collection PP831, Printed Chipboard CB116, Embellishment Pack- Buttons EM936, Embellishment Pack- Printed Ribbon EM937, Organza ribbon RI613
“As soon as I saw the Homemade collection I started seeing projects with hand stitching on, something that think is very beautiful and do from time to time”.
Tip: I find it easier to sew on my layouts and cards if I first pierce the paper. Before I do that I draw guidelines that can be erased before I start sewing with the tread.
The second card is by Leanne Allinson:
“The new “Home Made” collection has a lot of beautiful detail but there is no reason why you can’t add some more. Hand stitching is the perfect technique to compliment this homely collection”.
Materials needed: 6”paper pad, needle and embroidery thread, foam mat, pencil, paper piercer (optional)
Step 1:
To make a little house embellishment on your Welcome Home card, use the “arrow” die cut from the 6”paper pad and pierce holes around its edge. Be careful not to go too close to the edge. The die cut may tear and your hand stitching will not stay in place.
If you don’t have a tool to pierce your paper, you can use a sharp needle. Place a foam mat beneath your die cut to make the job easier on your fingers.
Step 2:
Once the outside edge has holes, draw a roof line and a door on the arrow with a pencil.
Step 3:
Follow these lines carefully with your paper piercer. Once the holes have been punched, erase the pencil lines and begin your stitching.
Use a “back” stitch to make the hand stitching appear to flow.
Step 4:
Finally, adhere your hand stitched “house” with foam tape to your card.
“Welcome Home” card by Leanne Allinson – Home Made collection: specialty paper – family portrait (ps117); 6” paper pad paper & die cuts (pp831); tiny alphas – chocolate (ma512); ink – antique blue (ip716); ribbon (em937); foam tape (t303). Other: embroidery thread; machine stitching.

Sweet Homemade Cards
Camilla, Christy and Vicki here with some cards using the 6″ Paper Pads from Homemade and from Candy Lane.
The 6″ Paper Pads are perfect for cardmaking. There are lots of different papers to choose from and the paper pads also contains borders and journaling spots. For this card I used the Homemade Paper Pad.
Card “Tack” – Camilla Ekman: Homemade 6”Paper Pad (PP831); Journal Tags (JT607); Lace Pack – white (EM926)
Other: flower vine, alpha, die, border punches
And for this card I used the Candy Lane Paper Pad.
Card “Happy Birthday” – Camilla Ekman: Candy Lane 6”Paper Pad (PP832); Printed Chipboard (CB117); Rubons – Happy Birthday (RB838)
Other: Dies

Christy: Another card made from using some of the papers in the Homemade Collection paper pad. If you take notice there are patterned papers exclusive to the paper pads that aren’t in the 12 x 12 size. Sometimes these are actually my favorites, take for instance the blue/green paper I used on my card for today. It’s a softer version of what you’ll find in a 12×12 version.

Supplies: Patterned Paper-Homemade P831, Paper Pad-Homemade PP831, Rub-ons: Homemade RB891, Lace Pack EM927 Cream, Card-White EF001

Beyond the Page with Candy Lane
Lets go Beyond the Page with Christy and Vicki and the fabulous range that is Candy Lane!
_____________________________
Hi there. It is Vicki here to share a recipe book which I have created (with a little help from my girls!). When I opened the Candy Lane range from Kaisercraft it was school holidays so there were a couple of little girls in the house eager to help. They were so taken with the range and were just in awe of its colours and of course they just loved the CUPCAKES!! When I asked them what we should do with all these cupcakes – the first response was to make a recipe book for all our favourite sweet treats – so here it is:

Our first decision was what recipes we were going to put in it – so we narrowed it down to cakes, muffins, cookies and slices and away we went.
The front page was fun to make with the chipboard shapes in the range – we decided on the teapot, cups and flowers and added rhinestone strips for the water from the teapot!

and so on to the pages…

the journal tags…

and the 6″ paper pads…

were perfect for these pages…

and to finish some embossing and ribbons.

Greetings Scrappers! Christy here sharing another wonderful new release in the Beyond The Page category here at Kaiser. When I got this little chest of drawers in my box full of design team goodies I couldn’t have been more thrilled and I instantly knew what purpose I would have for it. As some of you know I have a new baby girl in my house who is just starting to get enough hair to hold a barette. Now this may sound all sweet and stuff but I also have 2 almost 3 year old boy/monster who loves to place these barettes and “pretties” everywhere they aren’t supposed to go. My solution, my new little chest of drawers!

I kept my embellishments simple this time for several reasons, #1 I like it that way, and #2 do you remember me mentioning the “monster” in my house? Well, I plan on keeping this in a place he just might be able to reach and anything additional would be a candidate for being destroyed. Oh the practicalities of motherhood:-)

Supplies: Chest of Drawers SB2088, Paper Pack PP832, Rhinestone Embellishments SB700-Silver, Other: Spray Paint-White

Happiness is Homemade
My desk is a constant state of chaos. I have scrapbooking products everywhere, all the time, as well as my computer and the family bills. In an effort to get the chaos under control I have started to look at good storage items for the things I need to have on my desk. I was stuck on how best to store the bills until they are paid, but by chance one day I came across this cool little beyond the page item from Kaisercraft.
Perfect!
I used the gorgeous Homemade collection to convert the photo display stand to my new bill holder.
As always embellishments are kept to a minimum so it is still practical.
I added a clip to the back section so I can keep a list of what my design team commitments are. I would hate to miss those deadlines just as much as I would hate to miss paying any bills!
So stage 1 of trying to transorm my desk from chaos to organised is well under way. Now all I have to do is work out how to get me organised!
