Jungle Bug Layout

I fell in love with this cute range as soon as I saw it.  What could be more perfect for scrapping boy photos than the gorgeous bright colours and cute little bugs in the Jungle Bug range?  And the leaves in the embellishment pack!  I just love them.  But I think my favourite item in this whole collection would have to be that cute die cut paper with the bugs in the border.  It was the first thing I grabbed out of my box of Kaisercraft goodies and I had to use it for a layout straight away…

Jungle Bug by Samantha Hauzer – Jungle Bug Paper, Die Cut, Embellishment Pack, AS223 Alpha Stickers – Tangerine

I couldn’t resist cutting out some of those cute little bugs from the papers. Adding a bit of foam tape underneath makes them really “pop” out on your layout.  And the Kaisercraft Tangerine Alpha Stickers were the perfect colour to use for my title. I even used the name of the paper range as my title, I just loved it so much!

Mix n’ Match with Kaisercraft’s collections

My niece recently gave birth to a gorgeous baby boy and I decided I wanted to decorate a Kaisercrafts door plaque for his bedroom. But I had a dilemma-I thought the birds and trees from the ‘Hey Birdie’ range were just perfect-but the colours were too girly. I thought the colours of the ‘Jungle Bug’ range were perfect, but the bugs were more boy than baby.

But then I had a brainwave!

I used the ‘Hey Birdie’ clear stamps on the back of ‘Jungle Bug’ papers, cut out the designs and paper pieced them together. Hey Presto-masculine ‘Hey Birdie’!

Here is the finished product:

Kaisercraft Trinket Box – 2 ways…

To echo Pam’s earlier sentiments, Kaisercraft really do make the most beautiful AND versatile Beyond the Page items  that can be adapted and modified to suit any creative purpose.  I know I’ve been guilty of totally altering the intended purpose of many  BTP items, but that’s half of the creative fun!

Today Christine and I have both decorated a  gorgeous little trinket box.  Initially I thought I’d use the Hey Birdie collection and decorate this for my daughter, but as I started decorating it, I decided it would look really lovely in my scrap room on my desk instead ……(good Mum, I know…)

Trinket Box by Nikki Antonello – BTP Trinket Box, Hey Birdie Papers, Organza Ribbon, Kaisercraft Brown ink pad and Rhinestones.

I kept the design very simple and decided to use lots of diferent patterned paper strips to cover the box.  I’ve left space to add a title if need be, but I haven’t settled upon a purpose just yet. Christine covered her trinket box using the Jungle Bug collection for her son.  Here’s what she had to say…….

“My son is often rather envious of his big sister’s collection of jewellery boxes for hiding her treasures, so I decided to decorate the trinket box for him. He is such a typical boy and loves collecting things outside. He’s already filled his box with acorns! Like Nikki, I also kept the design really simple and I made sure that all the papers and the ribbon cord were all sewn or stuck down firmly, otherwise Will would probably pull it all off! I mixed a bit of Black Kaisercolor paint in with some Mud Puddle paint to create a brown that matched the papers. ”

“William’s Trinket Box” by Christine Rumley – BTP Trinket Box, Jungle Bug paper collection, 6×6 Paper pad, Cream alpha stickers, Rewind collection embellishment pack, Mud Puddle and Black paint.

More Cards With Jungle Bug

When you first see the Jungle Bug range, it’s the cute little bugs that capture your attention, and immediately make you think of little boys. However, when you look beyond the creepy crawlies Jungle Bug actually has some sophisticated colours and patterns that are suitable for big boys too! I’m a big fan of fast and simple cards as I usually have to knock one up very quickly at the last moment as someone in the family realizes they need a card NOW!  The three cards here are made from  just 4 pieces of 6×6 paper and the diecuts in the back of the paper pad, and I think they are great cards for men who don’t like anything too feminine.

Pam Thorburn-Happy Birthday card. Kaisercrafts 'Jungle Bug'; 6 x 6 paper pad, brads

Pam Thorburn-Best Wishes' card. Kaisercrafts 'Jungle Bug' 6x6 paper pad. Fiskars border punch

Pam Thorburn- Birthday Card. Kaisercrafts 'Jungle Bug' 6x6 paper pad, Chipboard number, number sticker

OK, OK, I know a little bug crept in, so this card it really for a little man-but those bugs are just irresistable!!
