Scrapping with Nancy- Devonshire and Doilies
Hi all! It’s my blogging week here at KaiserCraft, and I have so much to share!
First off, I am excited to share my layout using the GORGEOUS Devonshire collection. I finished this page well over a month ago, and I have been just dying for my blog week to hurry up and get here so I can share it and all of my other projects and pages with you. All week long the blog is sure to be jam-packed with lots of eye candy and inspiration! There were so many fab collections for the Q3 release, and I loved playing with all of them, but I think the Devonshire collection is my fave thus far.
“Green Eyed Boy” by Nancy Burke. Material used: Devonshire collection papers- Victorian Rose (P479) (back), Clarabelle (P482) (front), Aurora
(P478) (front and back); diecuts (DC312); rub ons (RB849); ink pad (IP708); embellishment pack (EM910); pearls (SB789), Other: crocheted lace doily, leaves, flower punch, scalloped border punch, sewing machine, thread.
While knee-deep into Spring cleaning, the idea for this pretty page background hit me! I had been washing and freshening up all of my linens and washable decor, and came across a pretty cotton fabric doily with crocheted lace edging and a single lace butterfly sewn into it. I realized that the doily was the perfect size for a scrapbook page! The crocheted lace was just around the edges, so it was easily trimmed off, as well as the butterfly. I had no second thoughts about cutting apart such a pretty decor piece, since afterall, I had plenty more doilies where that came from, and it was done in the name of scrapbooking, so it was for a good cause. I stitched the lace edging to a circle cut from patterned paper and voila! Instant background!
For the butterfly, I simply created a tiny paper tube “bead” by rolling up a 6-inch by 1-inch triangle around a bamboo skewer. I then attached it to the center of the butterfly “body”, gave it tiny pearl “eyes”, and used a black pen to hand draw the antennae and dotted line.
For the layered flowers, I hand cut several from the patterned paper, curled all the edges of the petals, and shaded lightly with brown ink. I also used flowers punched from the paper as well as flowers from the embelishment pack. I used a variety of pearls for the flower centers. I finished off the flowers by tucking velvet and paper leaves under the petals.
So lets see some of your inspired creations using some odds and ends decor items from around your house!
Thanks for looking!

Stamping Sunday

Pam Thorburn: MadeWith Love paper and die cut label, Clear mini stamps-CS902, CS903, ink, clear embossing powder
The last two cards use a blending technique-yet they have a totally different look.
Blending technique: Use foam pads to rub different coloured inks into cardstock, overlapping and blending the colours.
For the ‘Best Wishes’ card heat first emboss the flowers using clear embossing powder, then use the blending technique over the stamped flowers. The embossed images will resist the ink.
For the ‘True Friendship’ card use the blending technique on white card, overstamp with the Devonshire lace stamp, and the rose stamp. Then stamp the Peachy Keen branch and birds. Stamp Peachy Keen text onto an offcut of the stamped background and adhere with foam tape. The ribbon colour was changed with inks to match the card.
And now for some stamping on a layout. For this one, I really like the La Di Dah collection, but it was very pink. This particular photo is mostly green and blue so with the help of some stamps and rubons, I was able to make the most of this collection, AND suit my photo.
A girl… by Alicia Barry. Materials used: La DI Dah papers, Kaisercraft flowers, Kindy Glitz, La Di Dah stamps, Kaisercraft butterfly stamp, Kaisercraft green ink, La Di Dah rubons.
Firstly, I choose parts of the patterned papers that fir my colour scheme then cut individual shapes from the patterns to create my embellishments. I shaped these and layered them with Kaisercraft flowers. Next I used a co-ordinating stamp from the same range (the long stem). I used a dark green ink and stamped on light green paper, then cut out leaving a small border.
Next, I made my butterflies. I stamped in black onto the back of a leftover scrap. I used gel pens to colour the wings so that they would match my colour scheme. A little glitter finished them off. Once dry, I cut around them, leaving a small border, then folded up the wings a little and adhered at the body.

Beyond the page with Devonshire.
One of the great things that sets Kaisercraft apart from other manufacturers is their outstanding range of Beyond the Page projects. Thing is with the BTP projects…as much as I love them, I really like to try to make my finished project look different from everyone else who is starting out with the same raw materials. It also needs to be something that I can actually use, rather than just a pretty display item.
This time around, I decided to combine more than one of the pieces to make a co-ordinating set to help keep my family organised. Rather than a photo stand, I thought it would be fun to make a place to sort out the pile of mail that seems to accumulate on the counter each day. The front faces were perfect for an embellished title plate.
Materials used: Devonshire papers, paper, pad, Kaisercraft chipboard alphabet, Kaisercraft mini alphabet stickers, Devonshire embellishment pack and rubons.
